Situation report: celebrating world space week in my city.

On the 6th December in1999, the United nations genneral assembly announced that october 4th to 10th be celebrated as the world space week. You may be hearing this for the first time and wondering what is being celebrated.

It'll be my honour to share with you the situation report here at the Advanced space technology application laboratories ( ASTAL) in Akwaibom, Nigeria. So I invite @balogunayomi, @prezhy123 and @sikan-eyen to join this contest.

Before diving straight to the days happening, The world space week is an annual celebration celeberated in over 95 countries promoting and sponsoring interest of people into the science of space, technology, GIS and geo referencing. An article once described it saying;

World Space Week is officially defined as "an international celebration of science and technology, and their contribution to the betterment of the human condition".

Every year, just like many other annual celebrations, a theme is being given for the years annual celebration and the topic for this year is 'Space and sustainability'.

Today Mark's the 3rd day of the world spaceweek, and in the spirit of this celebration the members of ASTAL in collaboration with ibenidium university here in Nigeria organised a space club to educate and train young minds about space, and today, they had inducted new interns into this space club. The occasion started with an opening prayer, then an opening speech was given by the coordinator of ASTAL Mr kenneth uchua.

His speech spoke reasons why youths should endeavour to channel their energy in the aspect of space and technology. The interns then where officially registered and had their names penned down into the clubs book.

It was truly an awesome moment to have the event graced by the vice chancellor who was represented by the VC admin, the Head of departments in the faculty of computer science, vice dean and new inductees all from ibedinium university.

The executive staff of ASTAL too weren't left out as they took part in the event and made it lively.
Being the hosting side, they showed some hospitality by serving their guest some item 6 and bidding a warm farewell at the end of the occasion.

Here at ASTAL, the event was concluded with a power message to arm and inspire the new intends before taking the closing prayer. Here were some pictures taken after the event with some old interns at ASTAL.
