EDUCATION SYSTEM IN NIGERIA

Hello! good morning to all HOT NEWS COMMUNITY, I believe we all had a good night rest.

I'm glad being a member of this community, here is my participation on a Contest EDUCATION SYSTEM IN YOUR COUNTRY organized and published by @cryptoloover here in Hot News Community

Here in Nigeria we have different level in which education is being divided into.
Here in my article today I will write those levels and the educational challenges we are facing.

Tell me about the education system of Nigeria

---

Education system here in Nigeria are combination of the formal and informal education, talking about the formal education system, it is divided into three(3) levels which are primary, secondary and tertiary institution.

• Primary education: primary education in Nigeria can said to be compulsory in some region here and it last for six years starting from primary (1-6), each primary section takes a year to complete. There they provides basics foundation subjects such as English, mathematics, social studies and some basic science study.

• Secondary education: secondary education follows the primary education and do last for six years too, It is divided into junior secondary school (JSS) which last for 3 years and senior secondary school (SSS) 3 years too adding the both makes it 6 years in total.
  At the end of the SSS, to call it complete students most take the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) or the National Examination Council examination popularly known by it acronym (NECO).

• Tertiary education: The tertiary education in Nigeria are universities, polytechnics and colleges of education.
  In Universities they offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs, polytechnics only focus on technical and vocational education, while College of education train teachers for primary and secondary schools.

Chellenges Facing or Education.

The education system in Nigeria faces a lot of challenges, which includes lack of adequate funding and support needed to meet some requirement concerning educational projects, this results in poor equipped schools and facilities .

We have range shortage of qualified teachers mostly in rural areas, The situation is also criticised for being outdated and not preparing students to learn as the suppose to.

Here there are some inequalities in access to education, with some areas have good and better educational facilities and resources than others. Gender inequality is also widespread, when some females gender facing barriers to education due to early marriage and cultural practice.

Is there any special institute or organisation which is working for the welfare of mankind?

Yes there many institute and organisation that works for the welfare of mankind here,
Below are some....

• The Nigerian Red Cross Society:

The Nigerian Red Cross Society which is know define is a humanitarian organization that provides relief and support to those affected by disasters, conflicts and health emergencies.

You can easily spot The member of the Red Cross with their uniform Red and alarge white plus sign (+) in the uniform.

• Nigerian Human Rights Commission:
  The Nigerian Human Rights Commission is the independent bodies developed toprotect human rights in Nigeria.
  They investigate human rights violations and provide assistance to any victims noticed.

• Society for Family Health:
  The Society for Family Health though it is a non governmental organisation that concerntrate on improving the health and wellbeing of families here in Nigeria. They do provide healthcare service, and conduct health education programs so as to create the awareness of how to live healthy.

• Nigerian Conservation Foundation:
  The Nigerian Conservation Foundation is the environmental government organisation which works to conserve Nigerias natural resources. They engage in researching and community based conservation initiatives around.

Do you think your education system need improvements?

Yes for sure.
In conclusion: The education system in Nigeria needs a lot of improvement, There are many areas that needs attention especially infrastructures, quality teaching, The curriculum advancement and access to education for all children and both genders irrespective of the region or culture practice. Also I think there will be a need for increasing investment in education and training for teachers and provision fo good resources and adequate facilities for students, I believe if this are done the readiness for student to learn will improve as the are equipped with all the needed facilities.
