Hello Fellow Steemians ❤️!

Jubilation was everywhere yesterday for the Nigerian youths as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu the new president of Nigeria signed the student bill into law.

During his campaign he pledged that if he becomes the next president of Nigeria he will give priority to education as it is the key to success and a brighter future! Acting on his promise he signed the bill yesterday.

This Loan will make it possible for the less privileged students in the tertiary institution to get a loan from the Federal Government to cover the cost of their education. After their education they will work for the Government to pay off the loan.

This happen live yesterday at the presidential Villa in Abuja and the announcement was made in NTA news @ 9.

According to Mr. Alaska President Tinubu's aide I quote "The bill will encourage Nigerians youth to pursue higher education, but to benefit from the facility students will need to provide concrete proof that they are in need"

He continued... " A committee will be formed which will make up of Representatives from all important education stakeholders to manage the disbursement of the loan process".

Mr. Alake also said that funding for the new development will come from a portion of the federation revenue.

Conspirators and defaulters will be subject to two years imprisonment or a 500,000 Naira fine according to the law.

According to the permanent secretary in charge of education Mr Andrew Adejo, a measure would put an end to the claim that the lack of resources prevented the poor from pursuing their educational dreams.

This is an approach to qualitative and quantitative education during the new president's tenure.

The Ministry of Education is experienced in handling student's financial matters this is due to their experience with student scholarship boards program.

I feel this is a good start for Nigerian students, after passing through long strikes and I hope more of these are coming. What do you think about this new development?
