Cryptocurrencies are digital currencies that have existed for over a decade now. They are created through mathematical and computer algorithms and the have currency value due to mathematical scarcity. There are thousands of cryptocurrencies and roughly over 300 million people that use cryptocurrency today as of the time of writing. Cryptocurrency is usually known to have a certain high level of volatility which makes it fluctuate in currency value significantly. This up and down or rise and fall of the value of cryptocurrency is what crypto investors take advantage of to earn profits. It is a risky form of investment though. Another thing is that cryptocurrency is very energy demanding which has a negative impact on the environment. There have been many cryptocurrencis that have been created. Some have thrived and excited till this day and seem to have an even brighter future. However some of these cryptocurrencies do not exist anymore due to numerous reasons that may include the fact that the value dropped to a point were people were discouraged from Investing or that when it went live it didn't get enough investor attention to continue to exist. I'll be writing a list of top 5 cryptocurrencies that have failed. I hope this blog post informs and educate all Stemians, crypto investors and enthusiasts.

There are numerous and different reasons for these currencies failing. Some of them failed because the founders of the crypto were caught in fraudulent activities that resulted in the downfall of the cryptocurrency. Some were actually involved in money laundering and used the cryptocurrency as a means to steal money. Some were purely scams. Coinye West crypto in particular failed due to Legal actions from Kanye West leading to its rebranding and demise.
