“SEC S5W4: News Diary Game : AQI Is Almost Killing

Hello all my dear friends, For me this is the most important news of the day.

  
As you know, I am on a long leave, so I have nothing much to do. I often go out either by car or scooter, but as the condition of our environment is in today’s date, going out even for work is not safe but a risky job.

Look at my kitchen, which looks better since the kitchen queen is back home and my entry is prohibited.

We sat in our sitting room for a while, but today I had some urgent work at Delhi Stock Exchange Limited in Asaf Ali Road, New Delhi, so I had brunch with my wife and left at around 10 a.m.

And we had our brunch in our traditional style, although the menu was the same: paranthe, curd, fried potatoes, and pickle with a lot of butter and lassi. In case you don’t know about lassi, Google it please.



However, today I traveled by scooter again, as parking in this area is almost impossible. You either park about 3 km away on an hourly basis in a parking lot and walk up to here or take a three-wheeler, which is another problem in Delhi at prime hours. And I have not used public transport like the metro or buses for the last three years since the pandemic broke out.



We have just celebrated the festival of Diwali, which always increases the pollution level in our country, but this year the AQI is at a dangerous level. It has spoiled our air quality to the point where the government is helpless.

We Are In Trouble: AQI At 4.15 PM

Today, my biggest concern is not being jobless because I know I will be back at my job in April' 23, but the AQI in our capital. AQI stands for "Air Quality Index." It is getting worse day by day, and I don’t think our politicians are taking any concrete steps but instead playing blame games against each other. I don’t know who will take action against increasing pollution: the state government or the central government.

The AQI between 0 and 50 is "good," it’s okay between 51 and 100, and the problem begins with 101. The AQI is bad from 201 to 300, and 301 to 400 is very bad. And if the AQI goes beyond 401, it’s considered "severe."

Right now, we have gone way above the dangerous limit, and the situation is serious. Most of us are having difficulty breathing. It’s reminding me of the Australian bushfires in 2019, when the situation was even worse in the ACT and NSW. WE could see the hoards of kangaroos right in front of our house that have left jungles as the fires had spread everywhere.

And where I was standing at that time when I took this picture, the AQI level was touching almost 400.

Schools have been closed in many places, i.e., children are studying from home. In view of the alarming level of pollution in Delhi and surrounding areas, orders have been issued to run online classes until the first week of November 8 in all the schools from class 1 to class 8 in Gautam Budh Nagar.

At the same time, classes from 9th to 12th can also be run online if needed. Along with this, the administration has also banned outdoor activities in schools till further orders.

Entry of trucks will be closed in Delhi. Only trucks carrying essential goods will be allowed to enter the capital; no medium- or heavy-sized vehicles will be allowed in Delhi.

Cars running on diesel will not run during this period, so thank god I have a petrol-powered car. They will allow only BS VI-engined vehicles (the Indian standard for clean vehicles) and vehicles engaged in essential services.

Industries and factories will be closed. There will also be a ban on construction and demolition activities. Only the construction of highways, roads, flyovers, bridges, and pipelines will continue. Can you even imagine what we are going through right now?

And to make things worse, only 50% of employees will attend state government offices in the entire NCR area. The rest will work from home. And as you know, New Delhi is the capital of India, so there are a large number of employees of the central government, and the government has yet to decide how they will work, whether they come to the office or work from home.

And to make things worse, the farmers are burning stubble in their fields to prepare for new crops, which is yet another reason for increasing pollution in Delhi.

The government is about to announce the closure or continuation of schools, colleges, or educational institutions and non-essential commercial activities. What the heck! I had a cup of tea, bought some grocery and back to home.
