Greetings to everyone in this community and Steemians at large. It's my pleasure to participate in another contest to write on my friends mental health.

Generally speaking, there is need for balance in any health aspect of human being like the physical, emotional, psychological, spiritual and mental. All these aspects are interdependent on another that any imbalance affect others. Without the mental health man becomes useless because it's the determinant of our thinking, feeling, acting, and decision makings. Most importantly how we relate with one another.

It's of utmost importance to humbly invite my special friends @preye2, @jannatmou and @jueco to participate in this ongoing contest

What are main reasons of disturbances in mental health?

There are so many reasons to disturbance in mental health which includes the followings:

  • Trauma, or neglect, childhood abuse.
  • If one experiences discrimination and stigma which includes racism.
  • Losing someone close and so dear to your heart.
  • Living in poverty and debt.
  • Long term physical health challenges.
  • Persistent or long-term stress.
How can we realize that our friend is mentally disturbed? What are the signs?

We realize that our friends are in mental health disturbance based on the signs and characters exhibited by the individual. These are some of the signs;

  • The person always feels sad or down.
  • The person becomes worrisome, or feels guilty.
  • The person becomes confused in thinking or have a reduced ability to concentrate.
  • The person shows signs of tiredness, problem of sleeping and low energy.
  • The mood of the person changes, highs and lows.
  • The person withdraws his/her self from friends and social activities.
How can we help our friend to maintain the mental health if he/she is mentally disturbed?

We can help a friend who is mentally disturbed in various ways.

  • Talk to them about mental health.
  • Set time aside to discuss and interact with them.
  • Allow them to share as much or as little as they want to talk to you in your discussions.
  • Talk to them about self-care.
  • We have to listen carefully to what they tells us.
  • Assure them that things will be alright.
Have you experienced any such case? Or what do you think about such experience.

I have experienced such cases many times. What I think about such experiences: Mental health disturbance affects the overall wellbeing of an individual and may not allow them to become the best version of themselves. Some even go to the extent of taking their lives as a result of depression gotten from mental health disturbance. I think it's not a good experience for any one.

Overall, having stable mental health will always bring maximum productivity. Giving ourselves rest at when due reduces stress and is one of the factor for one to have stable mental health.
