my most distant journey

Writing this takes me back like it was just yesterday, Sunday 2017 0ctober 5th 4 days after Nigerian independence and here I was a very confused looking boy who was about to hit the streets. It seemed like a joke when I was told I would be making this journey all on my own. I then thought to my self is this really happening, the fact that were I was going to was so far didn't bother me it was the fact that I was told I would be going all on my own. Many of you know how bad Nigerian roads are so I was skeptical about this. I remember dressing up and getting ready all the while asking my self is thus really happening and just as I kept asking my self is this really happening u found my self by 7am at the bus park and my pops and mom waving me farewell. Realization struck I was on this on my own, I pondered on the so many things that could go wrong after a while I decided it was really happening.
Below is the story that follows.

the journey began

Up to this point I had been to so many places none this far and what baffled me was that I always had an escort and here I was going approximately 450km away from home admist treacherous roads lol and I was to embark on this on my own.
The reason for my journey was school based I was to travel from Abuja to Enugu for to write an entrance examination for university exam I never read for but here I am 4 years later in the school I passed.
The journey Promised to be adventurous as I would be seeing various strange lands and I would be visiting a whole new environment I was filled with mixed emotions on how to proceed I had to undertake this journey all on my own as this would be a constant journey as I would be schooling in Enugu for university.

Thus began my journey I really didn't expect to have so much fun as I was deeply worried but along the way I got to see so many beautiful places and come to appreciate my beautiful country. Travelling by road is really nice an enjoyable, that is when the road are good we passed so many states in nigeria places I would ordinarily not been able to.
Along the way our bus stopped and I was able to take this shots .

We stopped at Edo state where I got to experience first hand the popular Omi Ukpoka which is a special type of soup eaten by Edo people in which they use corn in the preparation of the soup.
I also got to see various other places like the ajeokuta steel mine in lokoja states.
Many of the other sites I saw on the road I was unable to snap them as we were moving .

conclusion

After this journey I realized that travelling was something I had a passion for , and I always looked forward to my trips going back home and going to school it's been almost 4 years since this iconic journey but the feeling still remains constant.
There is this feeling of joy that comes with visiting a new place for the first time. This feeling of aloneness that can be both scary and exciting pending on how you fare with your own company I for one am very comfortable with this feeling and I look forward to traveling to distant places where no one would know me .

It indeed is a long journey. I once spent travelling for 12hrs before getting to my destination. Alot of ups and downs, bad roads, car broke down up to 3 times. Luckily by the grace of our creator we got there safely

But admist the ups and down travelling could be really fun

Wonderful journey indeed, I'm not a travel person so I don't think I can participate in this contest.
