Tanguar Haor is the second largest freshwater wetland in the country,Just a few days ago, three of us friends went there. covering an area of about 100 sq km in Sunamganj district. The deep water, the water forest, the blue sky, the hills and the lush greenery make this haor look beautiful. The total area of Tanguar Haor is 6912 acres. However, during the monsoon season, the area of this haor increases to about 20,000 acres. Tanguar Haor is home to about 140 species of fish, 12 species of frogs and more than 150 species of reptiles. About 250 species of guest birds roam in this haor in winter.
From Dhaka to Sunamganj:
Every day Mamun and Shyamoli Paribahan buses leave directly from Dhaka's Sayedabad bus stand for Sunamganj and ENA Paribahan buses leave from Mohakhali. These buses cost Rs 550 per person to buy a ticket at N-AC and it takes about six hours to reach Sunamganj.
From Sunamganj to Tanguar:
Tahirpur can be easily reached by Laguna / CNG / bike near Sunamganj near the big bridge built on Surma river. From the boat wharf at Tahirpur, rent a boat according to your size and ability and get out of Tanguar Haor. However, as the water recedes in winter, you have to add Laguna / CNG / bike to Solemanpur. You can rent a boat from there. And in winter you will see guest birds.
Where to stay:
There is no such arrangement for staying in Tanguar Haor. But if you want to spend the night on the boat, try to stay close to the shore for safety. And if you want to rent a house, you can rent a room at a low price in a wooden house called Haor Bilash in Tekerghat area. However, if you have the experience of staying one night in a boat at Tanguar Haor, it will definitely be good.
boat rent:
When renting a boat, keep an eye on some things like whether the boat has a bathroom, mobile charging through solar panels, lights and fan system. Bargain to rent a boat. Boat rental depends on 3 things. Depending on the capacity of the boat, the facilities of the boat and the season. Generally small boats can be rented for 1500 to 2000 rupees, medium boats for 2500 to 3500 rupees and big boats for 3500 to 6000 rupees for the whole day.
Meals:
If you go around day after day, before leaving the food hotel in Tahirpur in the morning and after returning you can have lunch with about 20 to 25 species of fish in the haor. And if you plan to stay overnight in Tangua and want to cook and eat on your own, you can take a few days to the market to stay before boarding the boat from Tahirpur. And you can go to the small markets in the middle of the haor to buy fresh fish.
Travel expenses:
Let's take a look at the cost of 2 days 1 night for a group of 10 people at a glance. The bus fare from Dhaka to Dhaka is 1100 rupees per person. Boat rent for 2 days 1 night 5000 to 10,000 rupees. 100 rupees per person for two days breakfast. The cost of 4 meals per person for two days is 800 rupees for 200 rupees per day. The cost per person to and from Tahirpur is 200 rupees. The cost per person coming from Tahirpur to the bus stand is 20 rupees. Other expenses are 200 rupees per person.
Some caution when traveling to Tangguar:
Be sure to bring a life jacket with you when traveling to Haor. Make a GD for your safety at Tahirpur police station before leaving for Haor. Take care of anything. The cost will be less if grouped together. It is better to have a group of 4-5 people or 8-10 people. When lightning strikes the haor, stay under the boat's hull. Avoid throwing excess food / leftovers, packets etc. in the haor water. Avoid loud mic or instrument.
