Castaways

Hello everyone. This post is a bit lengthy than my usual. So many good memories in this. Happy reading.

Got stuck with my niece, the travel buddies and the solo traveler for 5 days and 4 nights in Palaui Island The island was home to seasons 27 and 28 of the American reality series, Survivor. Information signs were everywhere in the island stating it is a protected landscape and seascape.

This island doesnt have electricity. They only rely on the batteries, solar energy and generators. Ms Elsa taught us how to charge our phones and powerbanks with a motor battery. She is the owner of the homestay.

We hiked up to Cape Engaño Lighthouse via Lagunzad trail and it took us roughly 4 hours. Our guides, Ms Virgie and Ms Sunshine, said it usually takes less than 2 hours on a sunny day to get to the lighthouse photo-ops included. It rained hard the night before so the trail was a bit slippery. We just took hiking a bit slow. My niece was extra slower because it was her first time to go hike. She slipped a couple of times. Told her it was fine as long as nothing is broken and she laughed it off. We just enjoyed the wet and slippery trail plus photo-ops as rest. No crowds and waiting in line to take those breathtaking shots in famous landmarks. The 5 of us were the only guests in the island and even though it was a gloomy day we made the most of it. 😁

I told Ms Sunshine that i havent met a guide that does panoramic shots quite as well as she does. Even the others agreed. We were so impressed that we asked her to teach us. She gladly did. Here are my favorites taken in Navarro Pastures, Photo Spot/View Deck and Cape Engaño Lighthouse.

When we were at the view deck, the solo traveler and i talked about how great if we had a drone for an aerial shot and seen some videos that did a DIY. These sisters overheard us and made it happen. DIY drone shot. My action cam that was on my monopod tied to a long wooden stick and held up high to achieve that drone like shot. 😂 These sisters were so extra. Thankful we got them as guides. 💜 We also taught Sir boatman (forgot his name🤦) the DIY drone. He had a great time helping us with our photos and been smiling the whole while. We showed him all of it and he was amazed. After the shoot in Aungib beach, he thanked us and said that he will now have something new to offer when he will be with his guests that has an action cam.

Photos were at Crocodile island and Aungib Beach

The shared and boost of happy hormones with the people you bond with is addicting. The basic necessities taken for granted. You get to go back to live a simple life and that makes you appreciate the little things. Sometimes we just need to slow down in our fast phased lives. We miss out so much of what is happening around. Gratitude has this ripple effect. And you can find friendships and love in the island. Yeah, two of the castaways got together and started a family. Wanna know who? That will be in another post.😅😂

I can't imagine being stranded on an island am so glad you were able to enjoy the experience so much to share with us. At least for a little while I was able to escape the constraints of reality and share in your little getaway

It's an amazing, adventure on a beautiful island. Hopefully one day I can vacation to this place. Solar power and battery options are an alternative when we are in a place that is not connected to electricity. It was certainly very exciting and fun, adventurous with full of challenges. Beautiful trip. You have done your best with a perfect review.

Thank you so much! I highly suggest you do. I am still in contact with our awesome guides. They said their local government unit made improvement on the island. Its probably for post-pandemic guests they are ready to accommodate.
