TRAVEL CONTEST 7TH EDITION: TRADITIONS AND HOLIDAYS
image made by me
I want to appreciate @hive-111293 for this wonderful contest that makes us remember our interesting moments in traditions and some holidays. I wish to invite @benson6, @chiomzy810, and @dequeen to join in this contest.
Tradition is what a particular society or community hold up to per say it's like a rule set aside to be followed by generations. It is an ethnic culture practised by certain people. There are beliefs, ways of act, principles or customs. It is being passed on from ancestors to forefathers, etc.
While Holiday is a particular time/period/season set aside for leisure with family and friends. During this period, there is usually no work or business to do. It has been shown on calendars or sometimes like in my country, it can be pronounced by higher authorities like the President or the Governors.
These periods are acknowledged by religious groups like we have the Christians that celebrate Christmas ,while the Muslims don't celebrate Christmas, schools that go on public holidays or mid term break, work places, etc.
I'm from Nigeria where we most time have traditions like new yam festivals, cultural act festivals, fishing festivals, etc and we also have holidays.
I will talk about a holiday act that happened in my state Akwa Ibom in 2017. It was called Ukapisua.
I and my family witnessed it. There were lots of street dances.
Different custumes and performances, pageantry, food exhibitions, music's,etc. We move around with the groove.
The display was really beautiful and fun to follow up.
some holidays I've spent with my family
It was really nice participating in this contest. Thanks for reading through it.
Wow!!... Such a huge experience
Thanks for inviting me
You're welcome dear.
Hey,
Thank you very much for sharing with us such an interesting content. Ukapisua looks great and you presented it in such an amazing way that you made me regret I wasn't there :)
Could you please fix the sources of the photos so it will direct us to the website where it comes from? Right now it directs to the general google searcher and I can't find it there so I cannot see if it's CC or copyrighted :) Thank you in advance :)
Thank you @hive-111293 for reading through and correcting. It has been corrected.
Thank you very much for marking the source properly :) That's the great pictures, as I can see it was made by the participants and shared in some sort of forum. Unfortunately in that case it's not creative commons, as the person who made the pictures did not mark clearly that they are fine with distributing it on other platforms.
It's quite a popular mistake on Steemit, so no worries - we recommend you to read THIS tutorial to learn what kind of photos are allowed on the platform :)
Thank you very much for this
