BOAT TRAVELLING IN LAGOS STATE NIGERIA //@essygold /14/02/22
The sea is a collection of waters that covers a vast area of land that fills up thw space to form an ocean.
The difference between the sea and thevocean is determined by its geographical location.
In terms of geography, seas are smaller than oceans and are usually located where the land and ocean meet. Typically, seas are partially enclosed by land. Seas are found on the margins of the ocean and are partially enclosed by land. 26 Feb 2021

In this context, my discussion is based on travelling by sea.
This means if travelling is very popular among the rural communities in Lagos State Nigeria. This State is surrounded by water. As such those living outside the city are mainly travelling to the city by sea using their Boats, Ship or Ferry.
Boat Captain
The Captain of the boat must take 4 things into consideration before thy can sail out from their dockyard and that is the Tide, Wind, Weather and the Boat condition. Also live jackets needs to be available to all the passengers on board. He must also be confident and ready to delegate duties, should in case tough decisions arises during a sail out on the sea.
To make it enjoyable travelling by boat, one needs to have comfortable clothes, sneajers or boat shoes, sweaters, live jackets, sun glasses, hat and long sleave shirts. When you get prepared with any of those materials mentioned , you will enjoy your journey in the sea.

PERSONAL EXPERIENCE
The first time I travelled by boat was to a nearby village that can only be accessed quickly through boat transport. I was very nervous then, the Captain has to paddle the Canoe using long sticks and the journey lasted about 20 minutes. It was a nice experience but fearful too. Why? Because I cannot swim and no live jackets were provided, so my prayers was just focused on - God never allow the Canoe to capsize. This was far back as 2004. But nowadays , there are modernisation as the pilots now drive using speed engine boats.

ADVANTAGES
Travelling by Boat has made it very easy for the Government to provide certain social amenities to those living in the rural areas.
Health care and electricity are now accessible. Schools too have been built in such villages.
Employment opprtunities - Factories that produce different goods needed to enjoy life are now operating in those rural areas.
Beach lovers now do go to such places as beautiful Resorts are being built, thereby generating revenues for the state including employment.
THE RISKS
One of the most fearful risk of travelling by Boat is accident (capsizing). It is very rare anywhere. But it is dangerous especially during bad weather conditions as water can easily enter the boats.
Extreme weather condition may occur during boating and may hinder the smooth sailing of the boat.
An illness might suddenly occur to a traveller especially stomach problems.
Sometimes robberies can occur and the robbers may escape using another boat that has been pre-arranged.
Travelling by Boat cannot be ruled out in Lagos State. The city has about 66.29 sq.mi of water according to Town Planning reports. Many people love this means of transportation because there are no traffics as its commonly found in the city metropolis.
After taking this observation I just have to take a selfie snap shot by the sea side as the waves were trembling.

Amazing! Travelling by sea is an experience those living in the riverine communities enjoy. It reminds me of my own experiences travelling by boat from Badagry to buy things in Alaba, Lagos.
Thanks for sharing the advantage and the risks involve as well as the pictures. Nice job, keep it up. #travellers-say
