Be nice, every person you come across is fighting a battle.

This one is the smartest. It teaches compassion and I keep this idea in mind.

As always, beautiful phrases, by means of exaggeration, teach us to better understand life. But they also can make us sillier since they exaggerate one side and make invisible another.

When you are too nice, people tend to place you in the end of the line. If you are too nice, you will be loved but you will sleep on the floor, saying metaphorically.

So, as Buddha said, the Middle Way rules.

When you have to choose between being correct and being gentle, choose to be gentle.

It depends. :) If you tend to be gentle in your life, you need to learn being straight-forward. And, the opposite, those who are straight-forward should learn being more attentive to other people. We should find a right balance between opposites in my opinion. :)
