The three things I like most about my country - by @cryptogecko

Namaste Steem Family,

Contests are the essence of the Steemit Communities, which help newcomers and already established users to participate and earn Steem tokens to make their accounts strong. I believe more such contests should be organized where users can post content related to their culture, landscapes, and society.

I really like this contest organized by and posted in the Steem Travelers Community. I have listed below the three places and things that are unique to my country and I feel proud that they are in my country.

So let us see what they are:

1. National War Memorial

The National War Memorial, one of the most important pieces of our nation's cultural heritage, was built as a memorial for the soldiers of the Indian army who died during armed conflicts in India during India's existence as an independent nation.

This memorial wall, dedicated to the memory of soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the wars with both China and Pakistan, as well as in other operations, bears inscriptions engraved in golden letters that list the names of the soldiers that have given their lives.

Built by the Indian government and spread across 40 acres of land, this monument is located very close to the India Gate in New Delhi.

A central principle of this memorial is that it should be a place of celebration, paying tribute to the sacrifices made by soldiers, and paying respect to those who have made sacrifices for the country, rather than being a place of sorrow for the families of the deceased troops.

2. Geographical Diversity

India’s Geographical Diversity

In my opinion, India is one of the few countries on earth which embraces its unity in diversity not only in terms of its population, its languages, religions, customs, and occupations but also in terms of its geographical features.

  1. The Himalayas - The Himalayas are a mountain range in Asia that runs between the plains of the Indian subcontinent and the Tibetan Plateau. Among the peaks in this range are some of the highest peaks on Earth, including Mount Everest, the highest peak in the world.

  2. The Thar Desert - It is considered to be the largest desert in the Indian subcontinent, is located in the northwest region of the subcontinent, and is also known as the Great Indian Desert. It covers an area of 200,000 square kilometers. It is located on the International Border between India and Pakistan and therefore it creates a natural barrier between these two countries.

  3. Indian Plains - In addition to the subcontinent's mountainous regions, there is also an area of plains, where the land is fertile and the population level is higher than in other parts of the subcontinent.

  4. Indian Rainforest - The astounding natural beauty of the Indian rainforest and the diverse variety of its wildlife and plants makes this a must-visit destination for people who love this kind of stuff. These rainforests are not only an excellent place to visit but they can also be a romantic getaway for couples, and that makes them the perfect place for those who enjoy nature, wildlife, and greenery in general.

  5. Long Coastal Line - Further to this, India also has a very prolific coastline, covering a length of about 7,000 km along the Arabian Sea on the west and a long coastline along the Bay of Bengal on the east.

3. Indian Spices

Since ancient times, spices have been used extensively in Indian cuisine. As a matter of fact, they are some of the most valuable items of any modern domestic as well as industrial kitchen. The addition of spices can enhance the flavor, color, and preservative properties of food. Spices can also enhance the appeal, appearance, and attractiveness of food.

In fact, it was for this very reason that the English people came to India since they realized that spices could be very difficult to find in their countries and that trading these spices from India could make them a lot of money. Even today, many countries are importing spices from India and wherever you go in the world, Indian cuisine has been enjoyed by nearly everyone.

So, these were my favorite things from my country that I was excited to share with you all. I hope you enjoy reading about these things and whenever you visit my country, you will visit the places I described and buy the things mentioned in this post.

I would love to see National war memorial. Thanks for sharing this with us.

I love spices especially when it plays the role of adding flavor to our food and keeping us in good health,
I was thinking you will mention the romantic dance often featured in Indian movie.
I really love the dancing and was expecting to see it as part of the things you love about your country.

I like that but only foreigners love that more than we do. There are many things that I love about my country but I could only add a few to the post. I hope to share more things about my country in this community. Maybe in the future posts, you will see more things related to Bollywood and dances.
