2/6. Travel to the north

Hello there....
Thank you for following me on this journey. After our late dinner in Soroti, we then got rooms were we slept.
The next morning at 7:00am, we had heavy breakfast and went to the Soroti rock. This rock is truly special to the town because at the top you can view the town 360°. Climbing it is not a joke.. It may look simple but it was full of difficulties and also different routes. It was upto us to use the route that we preferred.

After all this exhausting hike, we rested a bit and drunk some water as well. A few people had small wounds but not so serious. At around 10am we ate something small because we had a long journey of 10 hours to make. We couldn't use the short route because of the cattle raids that have been continuously happening around Karamoja.

Anyway, our next stop was Kidepo national park.
We seat and seat through the dust, both good and bad roads. Well, we passed through Lira. Upto now i am in shock that Lira town is busy. It looked like down town Kampala. People calling from different concerns selling merchandise.... Jam in the town. Happy people... It was so lovely seeing that. We couldn't stop in the town so we went to a fuel station to make a stopover.

This is what my friend and i decided to do as people took at break.

We had to pay a young man a few shillings just to have a little fun.

We got back to the buses and headed to Gulu... The journey was not that easy for me because
I had very little leg room and my feet were swelling up at a point i had to stand just to control the swelling.
When we got to Gulu for a split second i thought i was in uptown Kampala. I was taken aback by all that i saw ... I am sorry i didn't take pictures but trust me Gulu is beautiful. I hope to visit it again when i finish up with uni. We had a quick stop and this was around 7:10pm... For dinner..

At 8pm we started moving again next stop was Kidepo national park. Now......... We left the tamac road and went into the marram road. It was crazy.... It looked like it was only us on the road. For four good hours with vegetation and few or no people. My was dozing left right center. Our bus had a tv and music was playing so loud. Girls were extremely excited and dancing. The journey was getting off hand.

For some reason, we were quite for a moment. Suddenly there was a loud hit on our window. A huge stone was thrown and it was shuttered to pieces. Luckily the stone didnt hit anyone.
One mistake that our driver did was to stop and get out of the bus. I wonder why he did that. In such a situation one should not stop... You have to continue driving until you reach a town because it could be 'wrongdoesers'..
When he stopped, men started cropping out of the brushes 😱 OMG,.... This moment i felt my heart beat upside down. This confusion.
There was a truck that flashed its lights to rhe men and they all disappeared back into the brushes. The truck driver told our driver that he should never get out of his car no matter what on such a road. Anyway, we continue for 2 more hours until we got to a tiny town were we waited for the other buses to come and moved in a group.
We reach kidepo at 1:30am. Exhausted and tired most of us slept in the bus. I don't remember showering....

Que emocionante aventura, es el tipo que a mí me gusta. Y que susto con los malhechores. Sie.ore hay que tener mucho cuidado.
Exito y bendiciones.

Has estado en África antes? Es un lugar hermoso. Creo que te divertirás.

No. Solo he viajado a Suramérica. Ojalá pronto tenga la oportunidad de viajar a otros continentes
