Hello, beautiful people of @steem-travelers, I feel so delighted to be again and thought lately a lot Of things have been happening on this platform but God knows the best and that is the main reason I cant do pass myself.

I will be taking you to the Okobo festival and following the trail, I promise you will not miss a thing. It is a festival whereby you see a lot of masquerades and each of these masquerades has its purpose and ambition. It is a cultural day held yearly in July and usually runs for 3 days and the last day is always brutal.

We have one here purposely known as an Ekong, this masquerade chase ladies with his instrument in his hands, he beat ladies on their waist. He uses plantain stem as his weapon when executing this act.

Another is the Etuk-Udo, this particular is mainly for guys. He chases guys and his dry palm fruit to tackle any opposition, especially the male counterpart.

He is another one known as Ekop in my dialect. This particular masquerade uses a long cain for its weapon. This particular is not ordinary because the last time I tasted it back then in 2015, I almost cried because they rub-dry pepper on it and the cain is very flexible.

We have numerous of them and before you belong, you must do the needful because any way you are caught and you don't the incantation or the orientation of the play, you will be dealt severally. It is a play that is always peaceful and guys use this medium to hustle because if any of these masquerades catches up with you, you use the money to bail yourself out. It is always interesting to watch and see how people display their skills in the market square on the last day and is always bloody because that day, they don't spare at all.
