Hello, my friends on Steem

This is my answer to the task of the Travel contest 11th edition (21 STEEM) by Steem-Traveler. The theme of this week is:

The most distant journey from home

The farthest point from my home that I can put on the map as a marker of my long journey is Barcelona. I visited this city for Christmas in 2018. This trip was organized by the management of the company where I work. This was the second joint trip abroad. And there were a lot of travel plans in 2020. But as you know, all our trips were cut short by the covid-19 pandemic.


I don't think I have anything interesting to say about Barcelona that would be unknown to people who speak Spanish.
I just want to say that when we flew to Barcelona, there was a danger of a transport workers' strike. This was due to the arrests of Catalan ministers at the time. People hung out Catalan flags as a sign of disagreement with the arrest. And you could read and hear the slogan "Catalonia is not Spain."


We arrived in the afternoon, checked into a hotel near the Redemptive Church of the Holy Family. This temple has a very interesting design both outside and inside. We spent 3 evenings on the roof of the hotel. There are special places with sofas and tables for relaxation. And there are sunbeds to look at the temple and enjoy its view.
By the way, this Temple is not the central temple of the city.

The roof of this hotel is a very wonderful place! We spent a wonderful evening there with our company. I'll say more. On the second evening, we went to a restaurant to celebrate Christmas. But after returning from the restaurant, we gathered on the roof and continued to celebrate our meeting.

It turns out that I'm doing an advertisement for the hotel where we lived for three days. But, really, we all liked this hotel. There was a wonderful buffet in the morning. There were always fresh fruits, various ham, cheeses. And the morning after the restaurant, we drank 8 bottles of champagne absolutely for free. If I go to Barcelona again, I will try to stay in this hotel.

On the first evening, we took a small walk to the sea in a small company. During this walk, we sat in 3 cafes. Of course, we only used local Bacardi rum. I like this rum. I sometimes buy it at home. The waiters everywhere were simply delightful and benevolent. It turned out to be a good walk, wonderful.


There was a full moon in the sky, palm trees. The temperature was about 20 degrees Celsius. And this is the end of December. Friends, at this time at my house there were frosts under 30 degrees. Can you imagine my reaction?

On the second day of our trip, we were on Mount Tibidabo. This is the highest point of Barcelona. 512 meters above sea level. At the top of this mountain is the Temple of the Sacred Heart.

From this mountain, you can see the whole of Barcelona. The main thing is to have good weather. But alas, visibility was not very good.

Утром третьего дня мы отправились на гору Монтсеррат. Друзья, если вы будете в Барселоне, то вы просто обязаны побывать на этой горе и посетить местный монастырь, посидеть на краю пропасти, насладиться величием гор.

We go down from the mountains to the city, we still go to its various places. We enjoy the beautiful weather, the tranquility of this city. By the way, I didn't see any fuss on the streets, I didn't see people's concerned faces. A beautiful city. But... In the summer, I probably wouldn't be able to live there. I think it's very hot there in summer.



This is the Cathedral of Barcelona - the Cathedral of the Holy Cross and St. Eulalia. It is located in the oldest part of the city, in the back streets of the Gothic Quarter. I haven't seen such a place anywhere else yet. It must be seen!
