Unpromising Studies on the Very Low Efficacy of Masking (Part 7)

A meta-regression analysis of data from the UK Office of National Statistics coronavirus infection survey (CIS ONS) (n = 200,000), found that always wearing face coverings stopped producing lower rates of infection after the first omicron wave for both school children and adults. By the end of May 2022 not wearing a face covering in adults had no effect on risk of infection for adults at school or work and ceased to make a statistically significant difference for children in school between March and May 2022. Many other supposed risk factors became negligible after the virus evolved to mainly infect the upper respiratory tract making it more transmissible such as working in a healthcare or social services setting like a nursing home. Others counterintuitively reduced the risk of infection and transmission such as living in a multi-generational household, being disabled and smoking cigarettes. Social distancing also made no difference.
