The social networking site Twitter (Twitter) announced, in a statement, yesterday evening, measures regarding tweets that spread misleading information on its platform about the emerging corona virus vaccine.

The statement revealed that a strict system will be applied to determine the actions to be taken against the publisher of these misleading tweets.

"We believe that the new system will educate people about our policy, and reduce the spread of misleading and destructive information, especially in cases of repeated publication of medium or high-risk violations, according to our rules," he added.

The measures that will be taken include placing an annotation mark on the Tweet stating that it is misleading, according to the language that the user selects to understand its content.

According to the statement, the penalties differ according to the number of violations committed by the user in this regard.

This comes as a continuation of Twitter's efforts to remove misleading information from the platform, at a time when the distribution of Corona vaccines continues to expand, as more people turn to Twitter; To discuss what's happening and get the most reliable public health information.

Initially, the Twitter team will apply notices to content that violates Twitter's policies. These ratings will be used to further target Twitter's automated tools for identifying and categorizing similar content across the platform.

Twitter said that the law will apply to repeated violations of Corona policy, according to the number of violations that have accumulated on the account. Because of violating Twitter's policies as follows:

- One violation: No action at the account level.
- Two violations: account closure for 12 hours.
- violations: Account is closed for a period of 12 hours.
- violations: Account is closed for a period of 7 days.
- or more violations: permanent closure.

The Twitter platform confirmed that since the introduction of Twitter's guidelines regarding Corona, the platform has permanently suspended 2,400 accounts, and intercepted 11.5 million accounts worldwide.

She indicated that Twitter is committed to protecting public conversation. With the aim of facilitating access to reliable information and reducing the spread of harmful and misleading content, in December 2020 Twitter announced its efforts to protect the public conversation related to Corona.

Twitter has launched a feature dedicated to immediate search for Corona, when searching for the term "Covid-19" on the platform, official and reliable content will appear, at the top of the search results.

It has now expanded to more than 80 countries around the world, and is currently available in 29 languages. And in some countries, the prompts now also include an additional button that links to information about COVID-19 vaccines.

In addition, the statement states that Twitter continues to collaborate with organizations such as Team Halo and UNICEF to support vaccination campaigns. Twitter has activated an emoji when tweeting with the hashtag #vaccinated, building on its previous efforts to encourage people to #StayHome and # WashHands and #WearAMask.
