SLC-S26/W5 || "Texture pottery"
Greetings to all my dear Steemit family and fellow artists 🌸
Pottery always gives me a sense of calmness and joy. The process of making commodity with your own hands, adding creativity, and also seeing the final result is truly satisfying. This week’s task of making textured designs on pots with wall putty was veritably pleasurable and tutored me new ways.
My Work for Week 5
For this week, I decided to try the stamping and sculpturing texture style. I set up it relatively intriguing and easy, and I used simple tools available at home to complete my task.
Materials I used
1 Clay pot
Wall putty powder
White cement
Water
Acrylic paints( Golden, Black, and Red)
Small sponger
Old pen cap for stamping
Step- by- Step Process
Step 1 – Preparing the paste
I took a small clean bowl and added 2 spoons of wall putty powder. I mixed it with a little white cement and a many drops of water until it came a thick, smooth paste. I made sure there were no lumps, as lumps can disturb the design latterly.
Step 2 – Applying the paste
With the help of my fritters, I applied this paste unevenly on the outside face of my pot. To make it smooth, I used my wet hand and spread it duly.
Step 3 – Creating texture
While the paste was still wet, I used the reverse of an old pen cap to press and stamp patterns each over the pot. I tried to make arbitrary but balanced prints, so the design looked seductive. I left the pot to dry for about 2 hours.
Step 4 – Painting the design
Once dried, I painted the pot with golden acrylic makeup using a small sponger. The sponger gave a veritably natural finish and stressed the stamped prints beautifully. For the final touch, I painted some small details in black and red to give the pot a stretch yet elegant look.
Final Look ✨
The golden textured surface really made the pot look royal and ornamental. It can be used as a showpiece in home décor, and I tête-à-tête felt veritably proud after completing it. The process was simple, but the result was veritably satisfying.
Student’s Task Questions
Practical Work
I completed my pot using the stamping fashion with wall putty paste as explained over.Share with us what was the difficult step during practical task???
The most delicate step for me was spreading the paste unevenly on the pot because it dries snappily, and occasionally it becomes a little hard to smooth it out. I had to keep my hands wet and work presto.Share with us the price of the plaster of Paris and materials in your local currency and in Steem ???
Wall putty( 1 kg) costs around 200 PKR in my local market this would be around 6 to 7 steem.
Acrylic paints set costs around 350 PKR.
In Steem, this would be around 10 to 11 STEEM depending on the rate.
The total cost is 17 to 18 steem in Pakistan
- One mark for presenting excellent creativity.
I tried to give my pot a unique look by conjoining golden makeup with black and red highlights, which offered a diverse style compared to plain painting.
Invitation
I would like to invite my dear friends @sadaf02, @josepha, and @lirvic to share in this week’s creative challenge and partake their own beautiful textured pottery ideas.

This was a fun and literacy experience for me. Texture pottery not only adds beauty to simple pots but also gives us a chance to use our imagination. I'm thankful to the organizers of this challenge for giving us similar openings every week. Looking forward to seeing the creative entries from my Steemit family.
With love and blessings 🌸
