Hvar Old Town
So so many pics to catch up on this is a few from the absolutely gorgeous Hvar old town. There are so many cute cobbled streets and then we walked up to the old fortress, which dates back to 1278 when construction began, at a time when Hvar was under Venetian rule. Archaeological finds however suggest that fortified constructions may already have existed in earlier times. In 1551 a new fortress was built on the site of the ancient fortification. The fortress walls served as protection during the devastating attack by the Turks in 1571. The building was severely damaged by an explosion in 1579 after a thunderbolt struck the gunpowder depot and it took till the early 17th century under the reign of Prince Pietro Semitecolo to restore the walls.
Love Hvar! Weather looks awesome 😎 Have fun girl 🏖️
