joint hunting trip to Karelia forest

Today was a great day, which I filled with a very happy and memorable travel experience. I canceled my job duties and spent the day outside the city instead of the office. Our trip to the Karelian forest was organized and provided by @bambuka, my friend with whom we share a passion for "silent" mushroom hunting. I was forced to limit my arsenal of lenses (due to the weight issue: by the end of the trip, to the weight of clothes, backpack with food, water, camera and lenses, the weight of the picked up mushrooms was also added ... weight restrictions are inevitable on such trips). So, most of the photos are taken with my regular macro telephoto Sigma 150 mm (yes, I planned to focus on macro), and a few (not too good) general shots are taken with Zenitar 16mm fisheye. I hope you will enjoy the visuals of our northern nature.

Сегодня был отличный день - я отменил свои рабочие обязанности, и вместо офиса провел день за городом. Мое путешествие в Карельский лес обеспечил @bambuka, мой друг с которым мы разделяем страсть к "тихой" грибной охоте. Я был вынужден ограничить арсенал объективов (из-за вопроса с весом - к концу похода к весу одежды, сумки с едой и объективами добавился еще и вес собранных грибов... в общем, в таких путешествия ограничения неизбежны). Большинство фотографий сделаны моим обычным макро-телефото Sigma 150 mm (да, я планировал сфокусироваться на макро), и несколько (не слишком удачных) общих видов сделаны "рыбьим глазом" Zenitar 16mm.

We found a lot of mushrooms, nothing unexpected; we collected Xerócomus subtomentósus), Porcini boletus, redheads, and many others. Plus we came across a number of non-edible mushrooms that we couldn't identify. We have been fortunate to come across many specimens of the red fly agaric (Amanita muscaria), which of course is known as a toxic mushroom... but that is not the whole truth about it. It's also a useful medicinal mushroom, and it's @bambuka's favorite mushroom. And also its the most beautiful and photogenic mushroom of Russian forests, mind it.

Мы нашли много грибов, впрочем, ничего неожиданного; мы собирали моховики, белые грибы, подберезовики, красноголовики, и многие другие. Плюс мы встретили некоторое количество несъедобных грибов, которые мы не смогли идентифицировать. Нам повезло встретить много экземпляров мухомора, который конечно известен как токсичный гриб... но это не вся правда о нем. Кроме того - это еще и полезный медицинский гриб, и это любимый гриб @bambuka. А также -- самый красивый и фотогеничный гриб русских лесов, так и знайте.

One of the biggest redhead boletus we found today. And it was clean, despite of its age -- we have found it before the worms did!

There were a lot of berries in the forest - you can still find blueberries (although they are no longer very tasty, watery and overripe), and a lot of lingonberries. The lingonberries ripened to perfection, and were sweet, juicy, tender ... it was the best lingonberry in my life, without any exaggeration!

В лесу было много ягод - все еще можно встретить чернику, (хотя она уже не очень вкусная, водянистая и перезревшая), и много брусники. Брусника дозрела до совершенного состояния, и была сладкая, сочная, нежная... это была лучшая брусника в моей жизни, без всякого преувеличения!

Let me stop on this point, I cant fit everything in a single post. I took more than 400 pictures today -- need time to sort them out and to edit. So, more posts will come!
