About national dance

"Any trip is a holiday that will forever remain in your memory" — someone

Today I want to share with you a story about how we visited the old capital of the island of Ceylon, which is called Kandy.
After visiting the tea plantations in the south, we headed to the center of the island. The landscapes of Srilanka are varied, the picture outside the window is constantly changing. The mountainous landscape gave way to jungle, which then gave way to rice fields.
A few hours later we reached the hotel. I chose a place to spend the night based on several parameters. The two main options are a swimming pool and proximity to the historical center. The road to hotel was going around Kandy Lake. It looks really great.

I did right choise. The hotel is new and comfortable. We asked the boy at the reception about the national dance show. It turned out that the concert was being held in three places, two of which were located next to the hotel. The administrator also said that the hotel sells tickets to the show at good prices. There was an hour and a half left before the concert.
We have a little time left to take a shower and drink a couple of glasses of beer.

The dance show lasts just over an hour. The concert is divided into 12 sections. The ticket costs approximately 1250 rupees. Each section is dedicated to a certain theme, myth or history.
The program indicates the script for each dance. For example, men in national clothes accompany warriors to battle. The next dance depicts the girls harvesting the harvest.
The dancers portray peacocks, and then evil, mocking spirits.
The entire show is accompanied by an energetic drum beat.
I was especially impressed by the high jumps and somersaults of one of the dancers. It looked impressive.
After the dances, the attendants clear the center of the platform from the seats. Now the walking on coals begins. And then comes the fire show. I want to say that the dancers tried to do their best. They gave all energy to the dance.

I would like to add a few words about the public. Of course, these are mainly tourists from Western countries. It should be noted that the public was very supportive and friendly. The applause was sounding constantly.
We walked a little after the concert along the streets of the historical center. The tropical southern night is filled with loud sounds and unusually pungent aromas.
We were looking for some interesting place to have dinner. The sanitary standards of local restaurants differ significantly from what we are used to. Therefore, the search was delayed. An hour later we reconciled ourselves and chose some restaurant on the second floor not far from the Temple of the Tooth Relic.
I don't remember what dishes we ordered, but I remember that they were very spicy
