CCS Contest Session - june Theme - "Beauty of Nature" - São Jorge Island Landscapes
My entry for this lovely contest...
São Jorge Island, located in the central group of the Azores archipelago, is a breathtaking and enchanting place of natural beauty. I had the idea to share these photos in shades of green, with a strong contrast against the volcanic rocks and the ever-present sky. It's a photography edit that highlights the lush fields of the island.
The island is quite narrow and long, with a rugged and constantly changing landscape. A tourist can experience bright sunshine on one end of the island and completely different weather on the other end. São Jorge is known for its famous São Jorge cheese, a globally recognized delicacy that I can assure you is truly delicious. Along the coastline, there are many Fajãs, fertile lands where you can find natural pools that turn these secluded spaces into an earthly paradise.
The water temperature is mild and the waters crystal clear. Along the coastal waters of this island, you can often spot various species of dolphins and whales. I hope you enjoy this green beauty that I am sharing with you. By making these landscapes artistic, we also exalt the magnificence of this entity we must preserve, called Nature.
Another curiosity of the island is the cultivation of coffee in some fajãs. I tried the coffee, and it may have been the best coffee of my life. It is an island with plenty of hiking trails, and there are long routes for those who have no rush in visiting this place and are willing to spend a good season in these surroundings. Walking the island is one of my dreams that I hope to fulfill one day!
I am sharing photos of landscapes, moments and experiences. Nature and sea are the most visited themes in my photo collection, but any attention-grabbing aspect can be photographed. Hope you enjoy it...
