I'm familiar with these insects, and their streamlined shape makes them very good swimmers.

Fantastic! You found an aquatic insect outside its natural habitat. That would have been an excellent lead for the post. Although you mention it briefly when asking why it ended up in your garden.

Next time, find a clear glass jar of water and capture some shots of it swimming. Even if you use an external image and include the reference, remember that we only want your own photos for this contest.
