Devil's Bridge & Uhlovitsa cave

There are many medieval bridges that live up to the name Devil's Bridge around the world, but the one that crosses the river Arda is one of the oldest and most surprising, both for its beauty, arches and height, and for its legend.
Devil's Bridge is not only a themed off-road experience, but also a popular fishing and picnic spot. It is said that it is not good to stay there in the dark and few do, although it is lit up at night and very beautiful. For over 500 years no maintenance was needed on the sturdy structure, you can imagine how well it was built. In 1984, the bridge was declared a cultural monument. The most interesting are the legends that surround him, which we will consider in the following lines. The legends about the Devil's Bridge over the Arda River tell that its waters came down with such force through the river bed that it was impossible to build a bridge that would not be swept away in a short time.

You will be told about the cave formations - hanging, protruding, blown by currents and all that - when you enter. What makes the 3.5-million-year-old behemoth worth the trek is its multi-level interior, between which you move along metal stairs. Inside you will see chasms, and exquisite "palace towers", and formations that look like cave cauliflower, and seven lakes flowing into each other, which seem to have been specially made by some architect to please the eyes of the invisible king who inhabits this underground palace. The star of the cave, however, remains the giant stone waterfall that "falls" into the lakes and sparkles like freshly fallen snow.

Where does the name of Uhlovitsa cave come from?

The cave is named after the nightingale bird, which probably lived in the area. The barn owl is a relative of the owl and is also found in cities. You must have heard her love call in the spring nights.
