| Эти фотографии я сделала 3 ноября в Москве на Театральной площади. Потом в Интернете я увидела множество подобных фотографий. | I took these photographs on November 3 in Moscow on Teatralnaya Square. Then I saw many similar photographs on the Internet. |
| Мы с друзьями пришли на оперу Дон Жуан на новой сцене Большого театра. Увидели эту огромную очередь, но не поняли, куда стоят все эти люди. | My friends and I came to the opera Don Giovanni on the new stage of the Bolshoi Theater. We saw this huge line, but didn’t understand why all these people were standing there. |
| Мы поднялись на ступеньки, и я сделала пару кадров сверху. | We walked up the steps and I took a couple of shots from above. |
| Когда мы вышли со спектакля, очередь только увеличилась. Один из нас решился и спросил у людей, стоящих в конце, чего они ждут. Ответ поразил: многочасовая очередь выстроилась, чтобы купить билеты на новогодние спектакли «Щелчунчик» в Большой театр. | When we left the performance, the line only grew longer. One of us took the plunge and asked the people standing at the end what they were waiting for. The answer was amazing: a queue lined up for many hours to buy tickets for the New Year’s performances of “The Nutcracker” at the Bolshoi Theater. |
| Мы уточнили информацию. Продажа билетов начнется утром 4 ноября. То есть все эти люди собирались стоять всю ночь ради билетов на спектакль в театр! | We have clarified the information. Ticket sales will begin on the morning of November 4th. That is, all these people were going to stand all night for tickets to a performance in the theater! |

| Но, как видим, некоторые особо престижные мероприятия требуют от поклонников вот таких усилий. На спектакли в Большой театр продажа начинается в кассах, и лишь потом остаток билетов появляется на сайте. Но на Щелкунчика практически на сайте не купишь. | But, as we see, some particularly prestigious events require such efforts from fans. For performances at the Bolshoi Theater, sales begin at the box office, and only then the remaining tickets appear on the website. But you can’t practically buy The Nutcracker on the website. |
| Честно говоря, я уже не способна простоять день и ночь в очереди ради билетов. И я была поражена, глядя на этих людей. Особенно удивило присутствие детей, которых можно заметить на моих кадрах. | To be honest, I am no longer capable of standing in line day and night for tickets. And I was amazed looking at these people. I was especially surprised by the presence of children, who can be seen in my photographs. |
| Мы наблюдали и сфотографировали самую первую очередь на наиболее ранний спектакль в череде новогодних «Щелкунчиков». | We observed and photographed the very first queue for the earliest performance among the New Year's "Nutcracker". |
| В следующие даты начинались продажи на самые престижные новогодние спектакли перед и после 1 января. К сожалению, ажиотаж усиливался, и несколько человек пострадали в давке, которая возникла в очереди за билетами. | On the following dates, sales began for the most prestigious New Year's performances before and after January 1. Unfortunately, the crowd got worse and several people were injured in the stampede that ensued while queuing for tickets. |
