| Это странное растение я впервые увидела на даче у своей подруги. Травянистое, но с толстым стеблем и высокое, как кустарник, с большими листьями. Оно выросло само, никто не сажал и никто не знал, что же это такое. Так как по виду выглядело экзотично и благородно, кустик оставили, наблюдая, что получится. | I first saw this strange plant at my friend's dacha. Herbaceous, but with a thick stem and tall, like a bush, with large leaves. It grew on its own, no one planted it and no one knew what it was. Since it looked exotic and noble, the bush was left, watching what would happen. |
| К середине лета растение зацвело, собранными в кисти белесоватыми мелкими цветочками. | By mid-summer, the plant bloomed, with small whitish flowers collected in clusters. |
| Когда же в августе на нем образовались необычной формы постепенно темнеющие блестящие ягоды, цветок получил прозвище «Монстрик» и вызвал горячий спор подруги с её мамой. Маму Монстрик напугал, и она собиралась его выполоть, подруга же была за то, чтобы оставить. | When in August, unusually shaped, gradually darkening shiny berries formed on it, the flower received the nickname "Monster" and caused a heated argument between my friend and her mother. Monster scared her mother, and she was going to weed it out, but my friend was for leaving it. |
| Интернет подсказал нам, что это, действительно, экзотичное для нас растение, завезенное из Америки: Лаконос американский - Phytolacca Americana. | The Internet told us that this is, indeed, an exotic plant for us, brought from America: American pokeweed - Phytolacca Americana. |
| У нас стало довольно популярно как декоративное. | It has become quite popular here as an ornamental. |
| Считается, что лаконос ядовит. Но в небольших количествах ягоды можно есть, в них очень много витаминов. Мы пробовать их не рискнули. В винодельческих регионах ягоды лаконоса используют для подкрашивания вина. | It is believed that the pokeweed is poisonous. But in small quantities the berries can be eaten, they have a lot of vitamins. We did not risk trying them. In wine-growing regions, pokeweed berries are used to color wine. |
| Ягоды и, особенно, большие корни лаконоса являются лекарственными. | The berries and, especially, the large roots of the pokeweed are medicinal. |
| Мама подруги сдалась и позволила Монстрику жить. Несколько лет он каждую весну вырастал на одном и том же месте под яблоней. Но одну из холодных зим, к сожалению, не пережил, сейчас он не растет у подруги. | My friend's mother gave in and allowed the Monster to live. For several years, every spring he grew in the same place under the apple tree. But unfortunately, he did not survive one of the cold winters, now he does not grow at my friend's. |

В интернете почитала, когда пост готовила: народ пробует и от нескольких ягод никаких проблем не чувствует. Но они, вроде, не настолько вкусные, чтобы их много съесть. :)
