CCS Contest session - Krushun waterfalls
thank you very much for the @visionaer3003 invitation. Today I will show and tell you about the Krushun waterfalls.
Everyone has heard about the incomparable beauty and turquoise waters of Krushun waterfalls, many people have visited them at least once, but many people have not. Therefore, this post will be especially for you. Where are Krushun Waterfalls?
The eco-trail leads to the Krushun Waterfalls. This is the shortest eco-trail in Bulgaria. It starts from the village of Krushuna, leads to the former "Maarata" hut, and then passes into a system of wooden bridges from which the waterfalls can be observed.
The amazingly beautiful Krushun waterfalls are the largest water travertine cascade in our country. They include numerous pools of water, waterfalls and a rich variety of plant and animal species.
The largest waterfall descends from a height of about 20 meters, dividing into arms and from there into smaller water cascades, which, falling, form very beautiful karst terraces.
In 1995, the waterfalls were declared a protected natural landmark, which aims to protect this incredible natural creation. In 2015 due to the collapse of a huge earth and rock mass, two tourists, a Bulgarian woman and an Englishman, died on the eco-trail. The route was subsequently changed.
I visited the falls for the first time in 2010. Visiting them again in 2020. I was amazed. Kebab shops and stalls are conveniently located in the parking lot at the beginning of the eco-path, and none of them foreshadows that a natural site will be visited.
However, it is worth visiting the falls as the best time is in the spring when the turquoise waters stand out best against the surrounding green background.
