It has been a norm for people to create a spot for dumping refuse in the absence of a trash can. Even with the trash can, many still prefer littering the roads with their trash. It has even gotten to the extent where a fine is placed on whoever disposes trash anyhow.

This has greatly caused environmental pollution and unhealthy living to those living in those areas. In fact some consider littering the gutters with their waste instead of disposing it. Some would throw it out in the rain when it falls heavily. How can this be reduced and controlled to avoid land pollution?

Campus is one of the many places you'll likely see much trash even in classrooms. So the students union affairs do organize a sanitation exercise for all departments and faculty to collect trash as show in the picture below. The department of agriculture is actually collecting trash and in the absence of no trash can, he takes it behind the department and burns them up.

This has been regulated to make students responsible citizens of the country. Anyone caught littering will have to clear the trash he sees in the entire place.

This has not been an easy task although done annually. One of the major blockage of water passage is trash. A group of people came together and sought to clear the trash in these gutters as people reside close to them and even market women sell edible things there. They have also been warned to avoid disposing their trash anyhow.

After carrying out this sanitation on campus, we collected the trash in bags and then packed it tightly so as to dispose it properly. The government on their own part has been doing the best they can in collecting these trash on road sides.

In as much as I do contribute to collect these trash, sometimes to recycle them, I'll still encourage the government to provide trash cans in streets and not just in a central place. This would help regulate this wastes.

Sometimes even with trash cans, people still dispose on the floor, but should be provided and the monthly sanitation exercise be enforced streets and not just on road sides. People selling by the gutters should be told to clean these gutters or not allowed there again. This is the idea I can contribute towards solving this problem.
