My Dream 11 For CWC23
ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023
Greetings everyone! I trust that you’re in good spirits. As we’re all aware, the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 is currently taking place in India, and it’s been a delight for cricket fans. With most teams having played approximately 4 or 5 games, we’re about halfway through the World Cup. The likely semi-finalists are starting to emerge. I’d share a screenshot to give you a clearer picture of the current standings and each team’s points.
Currently, India tops the points table, having won all five of their initial matches. Their outstanding performance makes them the only team yet to face defeat in this World Cup. Following India, New Zealand holds the second position, with South Africa and Australia in third and fourth places respectively.
From my analysis, it seems quite probable that India, New Zealand, and South Africa will make it to the semi-finals. The competition for the fourth semi-final spot appears to be tight, with Australia, Pakistan, and England in contention. However, my intuition suggests that Australia might secure it. The prospects of Pakistan and England advancing seem slim. But then again, cricket is a game full of surprises.
Pakistan was my top pick for this World Cup, but Naseem Shah's injury and his absence from the squad has affected the team's performance drastically. Despite being the top ODI team prior to the World Cup, they suffered a defeat against Afghanistan yesterday. Nonetheless, credit must be given to the Afghanistan team for their impressive performance.
My Dream 11 for CWC 2023
Moving on to my Dream 11, given the teams in this World Cup, I've chosen the following 11 players:
Number | Player Name | Country |
---|---|---|
1 | Mitchel Marsh | Australia |
2 | Rohit Sharma (C) | India |
3 | Virat Kohli | India |
4 | Babar Azam | Pakistan |
5 | Kusal Mendis (Wk) | Sri Lanka |
6 | Heinrich Klaasen | South Africa |
7 | Ben Stokes | England |
8 | Rashid Khan | Afghanistan |
9 | Mitchell Santner | New Zealand |
10 | Shaheen Afridi | Pakistan |
11 | Jasprit Bumrah | India |
Reasons Behind My Player Selection
Now, let's talk about why I picked these players. For openers, Mitchel Marsh and Rohit Sharma are excellent at making the most of the powerplay overs, giving the team a solid start. Virat Kohli at number 3 is an absolute legend – no more words needed. Having Babar Azam at number 4, especially if he's batting alongside Kohli, is just a visual treat. Trust me, for fans of Pakistan and India, seeing Babar and Kohli play together is like watching Ronaldo and Messi on the same football team.
Kusal Mendis at number 5 not only rotates the strike but plays at a good strike rate, making him an excellent middle-order batsman for my dream team. For the lower middle order, I've got power hitters like Klaasen and Ben Stokes, who can turn any game around.
Discussing the bowling department, I've selected four specialist bowlers and have included Ben Stokes and Mitchel Marsh as all-rounders. Santner and Rashid Khan excel in spin, while Bumrah and Afridi's pace bowling needs no introduction. My Dream 11 captain is Rohit Sharma due to his commendable leadership skills and how he approaches each game with a well-thought-out strategy.
My Predictions for the World Cup Winner
This time, for Africa...
Well, I can't predict much about other teams, but based on the way this team is currently playing – especially with their consistent scoring of nearly 400 runs in almost every match and a fiery batting display – this team appears quite formidable. I have a strong feeling that South Africa's team will win the World Cup this time.
Very glad to read your impressive entry. Success to you brother 😺
Thanks. 🙂
