First of all, I would like to thank my brother for organizing such a beautiful contest. In fact, traditional cultural issues need to be highlighted among all of us. Every nation in the world has different traditions and cultures. Among them, the Bengali nation is one of the only Bengali nations in Bangladesh, not Indians. Pahela Boishakh is one of the traditional cultural festivals of the people of these two provinces where the Bengali race existst.

LETS START,

What is your favorite cultural tradition or celebration from your country?

One of my favorite cultural festivals of my country is New Year or Pahela Baisakh. One of the days of the Bengali nation is this new year. According to the Bengali calendar, the 1st day of the month of Baisakh is this new year. Since ancient times, this new year carries a tradition of the Bengali nation. Among the ancient traditions, if the new year is one of the Bengali Pahela Baishakh is considered as the new year, one of the festivals of the Bengali nation is this new year or Pahela Baishakh. All around, young and old, children and adults join in the festival.

Almost everyone celebrates this festival. Many events are celebrated around the New Year. At Ramnar Batmule of Dhaka University, a very busy program is organized on the occasion of Pahela Baishakh. Basically, one of the most common traditions of Pahela Boishakh in the rural society is the traditional food Panta Bhaat on the first day. In the rural society, Panta Bhat is eaten the most and the biggest way of eating Panta Bhat for Bengalis is Hilsa fish. During the day many people eat panta rice with fish filling which is a Bengali tradition.

Another tradition of Pahela Baisakh or New Year is the Baisakhi fair. Fairs are held on this day in villages and towns. Many big fairs are held in villages. Various arrangements are made in these fairs especially those who are businessmen organize Halkhata. Those who have spent the rest of the year take large sums of money from the people and entertain them on that day. In Baisakhi fairs, there are many stalls. In these Bengali fairs, various puppet birds are seen. Yatra circus and other things are also one of the things in Boishakhi mela is puppet show. This is a very famous game which is especially liked by small children. There are various food stalls in Boishakhi fair. One of them is the sweet shop. Rasgolla Sandesh Jilapi is one of them. The New Year's Baisakhi fair lasts for about a month and less time again.

What traditional clothing or attire is commonly worn in your culture?

On the day of Pahela Baisakh, everyone is engaged in one of the festivals as various events are organized on this day. Therefore, especially Bengalis love Punjabi Pajama and Sarees the most. Men wake up early in the morning and take bath in Punjabi Pajama and go out while women wear Pahela Baisakh sarees. They dress up very well. It is said that Bengali women in sarees like sarees, so Bengali men wear Punjabi pajamas, dhoti, lungi, etc. as traditional clothing on Pahela Baisakh. Also, people from different ethnic groups also celebrate this festival of Baisakhi, they wear their traditional clothes.
