"Steemit Engagement Challenge | S7W5 | If I were The Principal"

Hello friends,

This week we are going to act in the role of a principal at a school. A school is a place where the future of the world is born. There are key characters in a school that affects a lot for the students and their education. So a principal is the main head of a school. He/She is the person who is responsible for every single academic and non-academic activity of a school. I will share my ideas about it.

What would you do for the growth of your school in academics?

In the present schools in Srilanka, there is a huge lacking in academic activities. So I have dreamt of many things that I will do if I become a principal of a school. The first thing is education. There are many subjects that don't tally with the higher education system and the employment sector.

I first of all change that and I would like to introduce subjects that help the students to find job opportunities. There are so many needed subjects for children in the future such as technical subjects, construction methods, cooking, agriculture, management etc...

From those subjects they will gain the practical knowledge and even though they fail to go to a university they will be able to enter the job market easily with their talent.

What tips would you give to the teachers regarding the maintenance of discipline?

There is a huge responsibility for the teachers to maintain the discipline of the students as these children should be socialized after their school life. I will appoint a committee to monitor their discipline and it is the responsibility of the class teachers to keep an eye on the children.

Small children should be monitored and trained the punctuality, unity, and self-discipline. When they move with the peer groups they should be monitored. So I would always instruct teachers to be friendly with the students and teach them good qualities after identifying their weaknesses.

Team events, group activities, and pair activities are really good to improve unity and friendship qualities.

Do you think sports should be promoted at school level? What would you want to do to encourage the sports boys/girls in your school?

Sports are a good thing to be promoted in schools. It helps to keep the students physically healthy and mentally fit. The students will be trained to accept both victory and defeat. It is really important to socialize children by doing sports. So I will definitely promote sports in the school it I was the principal.

I will promote football, netball, basket ball, athletic events and also cricket in my school which have many physical and mental qualities that the students will develop. All the needed facilities for the students will be provided by my supervision.

What do you do to provide the easy atmosphere for students to learn? (Behavior of teachers with students)

To provide an easy atmosphere the first thing is to train the teachers to reach the teaching goals. If the teachers know what to be exactly when dealing with the students then it will be easy. For the students also there should be leadership camps and sports camps the students also have an idea of what to be done at school.

When the students are working friendly with the teachers there is a nice bond between them. That helps all of us to build up a happy work environment with good teaching techniques.

At last, tell us about the personality of your school principal in your matriculation level

As the principal of the school, I should be able to monitor the academic as well as non-academic activities in the school. The personality should be able to deal with the teachers, parents, and students. It is not an easy task to be a principal at a school. We should have the personality, qualifications, and leadership qualities.
