The Importance of Living Tolerantly

Yes, indeed, everyone certainly knows how to tolerate. Only sometimes we still like to get caught. Sometimes we think we are right doing it, but it turns out it is contrary to religious teachings. For example, like this, we work at an educational institute whose background is Catholic. I wear a headscarf, very tolerant yes. Then then they stated to me, "happy Eid yes, like this... like this..."

Well, then I want to say merry Christmas , I feel like it's not allowed that I know. You can't mention that thing. Because we also provide justification for the teachings they do. But it can be done in another way. For example, we replace the word "congratulations" with the words "success." Well, that's okay. Because the greeting earlier, the greeting of congratulations, it contains a belief in it.

That is why the Indonesian Ulema Council has stated that this fatwa is not permissible. Because Christmas is related to worship, the same as "Assalamu'alaikum". Assalamu'alaikum that means we also pray. Same as saying the shahada. "Lailahaillallah" is simple, but if we ask them to say it, it's difficult too. Declaration, that's what it is, it's an official statement like that. That's why it can be done in another way. Nowadays, there are many marriages between different religions. Then then whose in-laws are still of another religion, say, then Christmas. Well, this child is definitely not happy with his parents, as a form of respect for his parents he will definitely celebrate or pay for a party held by his mother for example, or his in-laws. Then they also attended the celebration, how was that?

Well, so you see, there is a difference all scholars agree there is the level at which for example the ceremonial is with the ritual. The ceremony is no problem, but the ritual is not allowed. But sometimes I feel strange, when how people of other religions can respect us as Muslims in matters of worship, but why lately frankly I am concerned, the more frequently I go in and out of the mosque when I'm going anywhere, these are often trivial things. Between fellow Muslims it actually becomes a debate. Like an example, there are mosques that implement pakek qunut or not. That alone can make people not want to pray there. So I think this is actually Islam who is like that huh. So it's as if he's on the committee of heaven.

But the principle is like this, actually the second issue, this is the more complicated internally of religion. So there are two kinds of tolerance. Between religious communities or between religious people. In that sense, diversity is sometimes different opinions only break friendship. That's not allowed.

So that one is lakum dinukum waliyadi

If you are a fellow Muslim, "What I do, I will get it later, what you do you also get, just as you do." That is, whether you are qunut or not qunut, that is something that is not fundamental. Yes, please, those who are qunut are still qunut, those who are not are still not. That's why we need intelligence in religion. In religion, there is a symbol plateau, there is a value plateau. Sorry, this is a bit serious.

The symbol is something that reflects how the external form is, but there is a system of values. For example, the Messenger of Allah used to eat with 3 fingers. But that's a symbol, the value is what's important in praying and the right hand, not the fingers, because this will be difficult if we eat porridge. Eating porridge, eating soto, eating meatballs, eating using 3 fingers is hard. Because the Rasulullah ate bread made from wheat, it was enough with three fingers. But that's a symbol. The value system is what is important to pray for.

Do you know how to pray for eating?

So the point, this is that there are these differences because they have always existed. So what is important is our maximization that this is a form of love for Rasulullah like that, please.

Hopefully it's useful, thank you, see you again.

Greetings always compact.
