My Town In Five Pics- Kolkata (Barisha)
Hello friends of Steem4Bloggers hope all are well. I'm also fine. My participation in my Town In Five Pics- Kolkata.
Sabarna Roy Choudhury was a Zamindar of Mughal Bengal. They controlled significant portion of territory, including what would later become Kolkata. He sold zamindari rights to the East India Company in 1698.
Yesterday I visited the locality where his ancestors still reside. It was a cloudy day.
There are still few shiva temples and one Chandi Devi Mondir where every year Kolkata's oldest Durga Puja and Chandi Ma Puja are held by the family.
It is written on board that the Ghat (Holi pot) obtained by Sabarna Roy Choudhury 300 years old being worshipped regularly in the three storied building of his ancestors.
Front view of the building named Mahas Bhaban/ Chandi Bhari.

The Chandimata temple area was rebuilt in two stages at 1953-54 and 1971-72 on the ruins of original temple premises. There is a plaque on the wall described it.

In the locality also few abandoned siva temples are found in rows as well as in few temples regularly Siva lingam are worshipped. It is considered that the temples are also of the same time period.
