Emotional blackmail as you stressed has lots of negative effects on the affected victims as it causes guilt and anxiety in these kids, there is also a reoccurring low self esteem they tend to have whenever they are with their peers too, importantly they stress and struggle to keep their relationship, it's really a problem for them to make friends and when they do those friends are easily lost.
