My Town in Five Pics: Hunza District

Attabad lake is situated in the Hunza valley in Attabad villages. In this village, occurred a land sliding in the winters of 2010. It resulted in the temporary blockage of hunza river and resulted in a beautiful lake. It's more than 300m deep, its water changes colour with the sky. People from Pakistan and foreign countries visit this lake each year. There are facilities of boating, skiing, and resturants available for the tourists.

The need of water in hunza river is compensated by hunza river. It joins gilgit and naltar river and finally falls into the Indus river. It's 190km long river in gilgit baltistan. There are also many bridges built on the river for transportation.

Hunza mountains are present in the kakakoram range of Gilgit baltistan. These mountains attract the expeditors like no other mountains in Pakistan, mainly for being deadly and difficult to climb. Still people love their expedition each year.
These snow caped mountains are what visitors wish to get a glimpse of like: Rakaposhi(deadly white mountain)

Kakakoram highway is a 1300km long highway built in 1966. It connects province Punjab to gilgit baltistan, which ultimately leads to the China highway. It's also known as Silk road. This highways made the common people's excess to gilgit baltistan effortless. Some parts of this highway were destroyed in 2010's land sliding. It was rebuilt again in 2015.

Passu cones are found in the passu village of district Hunza. These cones have prominent cone shaped peaks in karakoram range. There cones are visible from a long distance in Gojal valley. These are also called passu cathedral due to its golden peaks during sunset and sunrise.
