Krak des Chevaliers
Previously known as Crac de l'Ospital, it is located in Homs, Syria. The castle was inhabited and built by the Kurds, Crusaders, and the Ottoman Muslims at different points of time. It is one of the most well-preserved castles in the world.

It survived a few earthquakes and was built over different time periods to take its current almost-pyramid shape. The picture below shows the passage towards the main gate.
