Definition of Insects (insects)

Insecta (insect) in Latin is called Insectum, which means that it is cut into pieces called an insect. The size of the insect's body itself varies, with a length of 2-40mm. There are also insects with microscopic sizes and tones that also have a length of up to 260mm, for example, such as Phobaeticus serratipes, the insect's body itself consists of three parts, namely the head (head), chest (thorax), and stomach (abdomen).

Classification of Insects (insects)

Based on the presence or absence of the insect wing itself, it is divided into several sub-classes, namely Apterygota and Ptergota.
A. Apterygota is a group of insects that have no wings, have little or no metamorphosis, have an appendage on the ventral abdomen, and generally have a size of less than 5mm. The appendage itself is a body part that stands out, can be moved and functions as a tool for movement, for eating, for the senses. And apterygota itself lives in humid places where it contains humus or organic waste, and also eats books or clothes. Insects belonging to the apterygota are the order Thysanura (lepisma saccharina-polaruku) and Archeognatha (petrobius martimus).
