Hello to all art lovers!!! From video games and the great sculptures that can be made with cheap school clay. ^_^

The vacation plan was approaching and since unfortunately I will not be able to teach drawing in it, I will take a temporary break from drawing and my drawing wall project, to polish and improve my sculpture skills, which is what I do I have to teach in the vacation plan, the reason for that is that I am the advanced drawing teacher, and since in the vacation plan it is totally focused on young children, they decided that the initial drawing teacher would be the one in charge of teaching drawing the children during the holidays.

looking for references

I was still looking for ideas of what to explain to the children but that it was not so complicated to do, but I also wanted it to be something popular and that they liked it, when I visited my house to use their internet, I remembered a game that I always I wanted to play the Fall Guys one, so I decided to make one of them, which had a fun but easy to make costume, and that was the hot dog one

Something very funny about this project and that was a great lesson for me, IS THAT I DID IT TWICE! At first I got a video tutorial on YouTube on how to make this character, and I did it as indicated in the video, I also did it timing myself and I didn't take any photos because I was waiting to finish it quickly, in the end it took me 3 hours and a half to finish the figure, but a few details, I did not like how it turned out, he looked very skinny and somewhat disproportionate compared to the video, and his arms could not maintain the pose and ended up low.

Fall Guy Salchicha 1.jpg

I disassembled the figure I made to recycle the plasticine and do it again, but this time I was guided by a direct reference photo of the game that I looked for on the internet, and surprise this time it did look like Fall Guy, this shows that to recreate something you always have to resort to the original material and not to a fanart, and the tutorial videos only serve to see the techniques and how to use them.

Making a cool sculpture of a Fall Guy

Since it was a second attempt, this time I did it calmly and without any hurry and I remembered to take a photo of everything I did to make this little friend.

IMG_20220728_155147.jpg

The first thing was to make a wire base, as in theory it was to explain in future classes, and I would not have much class time, do not use a wooden base to fix the wire structure to, to compensate for this, bend a good shape of the wire until you get some feet and you can stand up (in the video tutorial the arms did not have a structure but were placed at the end with sticks, here I included the arms in the structure for better support and they would not fall over time due to gravity)

IMG_20220728_155838.jpg

IMG_20220728_155904.jpg

With the wire structure ready, the next thing is to give volume with aluminum foil to finish the base of the sculpture.

IMG_20220728_155955.jpg

IMG_20220728_160431.jpg

IMG_20220728_161501.jpg

With the whole structure ready, a portion of pink plasticine was taken to make a circular base where the figure will stand.

IMG_20220728_192553.jpg

When working with plasticine sculpture, it is always best to start from the bottom up, so the next pieces to do would be the feet, which were very simple, they have a conical shape, but with a flat end.

IMG_20220728_192826.jpg

IMG_20220728_193109.jpg

To add the feet to the structure, a cut is made on each one on the back, then this opening is where the wire of the feet will fit, then a wooden stick is used to join the cut, erasing it.

IMG_20220728_193125.jpg

IMG_20220728_194555.jpg

Then a good portion of red plasticine will be taken to cover all the aluminum foil, until obtaining the shape of a sausage, it must be spliced enough to eliminate wrinkles and the front area must be thick.

IMG_20220728_202607.jpg

When you already have the shape of the desired sausage, with the wooden stick, make 7 maracas slightly from the front, to simulate the maracas of the grill

IMG_20220728_203713.jpg

Then, with the tip of the same toothpick, a circle of red plasticine will be removed, the circle being above the upper half of the sausage, this will be the hole for the face.

IMG_20220728_204016.jpg

The Fall Guys have a white skin tone, that is why white plasticine was used to fill the hole that was made in the body, the piece that was removed is used as a size reference, but the white portion must be thinner than the volume of the body.

IMG_20220728_204427.jpg

When the hole is filled with the white portion, a long strip of red plasticine should be made like a rope and cover the entire edge of the white plasticine, which should then be joined with the toothpick and fingers to unify all the red plasticine.

IMG_20220728_205427.jpg

IMG_20220728_205720.jpg

<divNow a small portion of red plasticine is taken and a pinch of black is added to obtain a brown tone, with it 7 very thin strips are made, with which the grill marks will be filled, which was done previously.

IMG_20220728_221125.jpg

Then with the wooden stick they are crushed and these strips are joined with the marks, giving that grill burn effect.

IMG_20220728_221221.jpg

IMG_20220728_221529.jpg

With all this ready, two very small pieces of black plasticine are taken, shaped into an oval, which are then placed in the white circle, completing the face.

IMG_20220728_221546.jpg

IMG_20220728_221735.jpg

Now a large piece of orange plasticine will be used (I didn't have this color so I had to make it by mixing red and yellow with some white) this will be given a sausage shape almost the size of the figure's body.

IMG_20220728_221823.jpg

This piece will be the bread for the hot dog costume, so it needs to be cut in half.

IMG_20220728_222005.jpg

To work better, the piece should be immersed in water for a few seconds. When hands are used a lot, they heat the plasticine, making it very soft. Submerge it in water to harden and continue working with it comfortably.

IMG_20220728_223145.jpg

The plasticine inside is removed from each half until something similar to a shell is obtained, this should be somewhat thin and is slightly stretched to cover the entire body of the figure

IMG_20220728_223758.jpg

IMG_20220728_224841.jpg

With great care, a hole is opened where the arms will come out, the edges must be joined very well.

IMG_20220728_224936.jpg

As the arms will come out there, two small circles of white plasticine should be made.

IMG_20220728_225116.jpg

But these do not stick to the pieces of bread, but go directly into the body of the sausage, passing through the wires of the arms.

IMG_20220728_225400.jpg

Returning to the part of the bread with part of the plasticine from the center that was removed, it is mixed with white to clarify it.

IMG_20220728_225852.jpg

With it, two long cylinders are made which must then be flattened, for this use a silicone bar as a roller

IMG_20220728_230008.jpg

IMG_20220728_230220.jpg

These long strips are the inside of the bread, which must be glued on the inside front of each piece

IMG_20220728_231210.jpg

Having these pieces ready and spliced, it is time to place them in the body of the figure, with the remainder of the orange plasticine it is used to unify the back of the bread, which must be spliced very well so that it looks like a single piece.

IMG_20220728_232453.jpg

The sculpture is almost ready, only the arms are missing

IMG_20220728_233512.jpg

IMG_20220728_234259.jpg

To make the arms, a generous portion of white plasticine is used until two long and flattened drop-shaped pieces are obtained, then with a cutter, 3 triangular cuts are made in each piece, to obtain the 4 fingers of each arm.

IMG_20220728_235857.jpg

IMG_20220728_235902.jpg

Then and very carefully, each wire is crossed with the piece of its respective arm, it is also used and with part of the light orange plasticine the sesame seeds that decorate the bread are made, as it is a costume with the cutter it should be make a cut around the waist as indicated in the reference image and also with the wooden stick make marks on the pink base so that it looks like a cushion.

IMG_20220729_000531.jpg

Small dots of red plasticine are also added to the body of the sausage, but of a lighter shade

IMG_20220729_081355.jpg

IMG_20220729_081441.jpg

And with this, the sculpture of the Fall Guy with the hot dog costume is finally finished, and this time if I stay similar to the image of the game, not like the first attempt that turned out ugly

IMG_20220729_081448.jpg

I loved the result I got with this figure, which ended up having a height of 10.2 cm, I realized that since it was plasticine, the base of the floor was sticking, to eliminate this I cut out a circular piece of transparent acetate the size of this and I put it down, and problem solved ^_^

Thank you very much for reading my post

I hope you liked my plasticine sculpture
