Palacio del Marqués is a historical heritage from the colonial era, its origins date back to the seventeenth century, specifically the year 1762, which is when this structure was built, the year for which King Carlos III of Spain granted the title of City to Barinas.

In 1939 the work was completed and the government took possession of the property. Since then, the people of Barcelona have known it as the Government Palace.
