Funicular Station

THE FIRST funicular in Romania, a royal dream fulfilled by Nicolae Ceausescu(Communist leader) was inaugurated in 1971 and was built on the basis of sketches drawn by the Romanian engineer Iosif Sângiorgian in the interwar period. The construction was to begin in 1941, when Romania entered the Second World War. The "funicular" cabins were found by Romanian Army soldiers in a German train in Czechoslovakia
