Ta Prohm

When we hear the word Siem Reap, it is Angkor Wat that always comes to our mind. Yes, Angkor Wat is very famous among foreign tourists. In fact, not far from Angkor Wat, there is another temple complex that is no less interesting. His name is Ta Prohm.

This temple complex is located in the forest, not too far from Angkor Thom and Angkor Wat. To arrive at the temple, we have to walk approximately 15-20 minutes from the vehicle parking location.

To get around Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom, Ta Prohm, or other temple complexes, you only need to pay once. It costs $37 and we visit the temple complex all day. Oh yes, the dollar is the main currency in Cambodia, in addition to the official Cambodian currency.

What is interesting about the Ta Prohm temple is the pathetic condition of the temple. Spung trees grow on top of the building which makes the roots feel as if they are hugging the temple building.

Tree roots pierce the bodies of buildings like a snake ensnaring its prey. Perhaps because of this uniqueness, this complex had become a shooting location for the film Tomb Rider, starring Angelina Jolie.
