Tesla has finally started delivering Semi trucks to customers.

Elon Musk’s company handed over the first electric tractor to PepsiCo, which has been waiting for deliveries for three years.

At the same time, Musk did not talk about the price of trucks or production plans.

Today, many companies are developing their own electric trucks.

Mercedes-Benz and Volvo have city trucks, and the Chinese automaker Geely also presented its concept of an electric truck.

Elon Musk first introduced the Tesla Semi electric cargo car back in 2017.

Tesla set goals for the production of a tractor for 2019, but only 3 years later, PepsiCo, which ordered 100 trucks, was able to get the first one.

Musk announced the transfer of the truck during an event at the Tesla plant in Nevada.

He noted that the long-haul electric truck will reduce emissions on the highway, and in terms of power and safety, it is superior to existing diesel models.

Also, the Semi will use the Supercharger charging technology with a capacity of up to one megawatt - it will also be available for the Cybertruck.

THE TESLA SEMI
Musk said the Semi uses three electric motors. Only one is enough to drive on the highway, the other two will be used during acceleration and to move off.

At the same time, Tesla did not report prices for the Semi, nor about truck options or delivery forecasts for customers.

In addition to PepsiCo, electric trucks have been reserved for supermarket chain Walmart, logistics giant UPS and brewing company Budweiser.

In 2017, Tesla planned to sell 300-mile trucks for $150,000, but even their passenger cars have gone up in price since then.

The company will aim to produce 50,000 electric trucks in 2024, Musk said.

He also noted that Tesla is using the Semi for test runs between its Nevada and California plants.

Previously, the company said that the truck traveled 804 kilometers on a single charge, while the weight of the tractor, along with the load, was about 37 tons.

However, Tesla did not disclose the weight of the truck itself.
