This was the 40th week of our post promotions for STEM Saturday on the Steem blockchain, and our little (but growing) community occupies the top of /promoted for the 40th consecutive Saturday. Promotion prices and competition for the top of the /promoted page remain low, so I filled the page with Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) posts again.

If you are a STEM enthusiast, please consider following the authors that you'll find in this article and also consider joining our community. If you would like your own post to be considered for STEM Saturday post promotion, please see the guidelines at the end of this post.

This week's promotions included the following posts (in alphabetical order, by author). Each author has been set as a 5% beneficiary on this post. All posts were passed through three different online plagiarism checks.

@genx-minerExperts prognosticate that by 2030-40, most of domestic chores will be performed by robots.

Please welcome our new contributor, @genx-miner. This post summarizes a recent study in PlosOne, The future(s) of unpaid work: How susceptible do experts from different backgrounds think the domestic sphere is to automation?. The study asked experts to speculate about the future of domestic automation. The survey group anticipates that things like grocery shopping and housework will be among the most automated activities while things like child and elder care will be less automated. @jorgebgtEarth's new mini moon.

The Earth has captured a new "mini moon", which is known as "2022 NX1". In the long term, the object will likely either escape the Earth's gravitational pull or else crash into the Earth, but for now, it journeys around the planet. The earliest that it's likely to fall to the planet's surface is 2051, and since it is only 16 to 49 feet in size, it is not believed to be a threat to humans. Read more from @jorgebgt.

@o1ehWhat the 2022 Nobel Prize in Chemistry was awarded for and why it is important

Here, @o1eh tells us about the 2022 Nobel Prize that was awarded to Barry Sharpless (for the record, I note that Sharpless was born in Philadelphia, PA and went to school in Wynnewood - both are in the region where I now sit. ; -) The prize was awarded for Sharpless' work in creating a chemical process that made it easier to assemble molecules at large scale. The process, known as click chemistry, or modular synthesis, is efficient; it doesn't use special solvents and takes place in the presence of water and oxygen; it uses easily accessible starting materials; and it produces byproducts that are easy to separate. Modern chemical synthesis uses this process to assemble ever-increasing molecules, and it has even been applied to living cells. In short, click chemistry won the Nobel prize because it laid the foundation for a revolution in the field of chemistry. Read more from @o1eh, here.

@sarahjay1

Here is an update to @sarahjay1's previous post, The Russian ship Progress MS-21 undocked from the ISS [VIDEO]. Russia's Soyuz MS-23 was launched into near Earth orbit on February 23, and is expected to dock with the International Space Station (ISS) on February 26. This trip will rescue the Russian cosmonauts who were left stranded on the ISS after the MS-21 and MS-22 both encountered failures in their thermoregulation systems. @tanveer741The safest seats on an airplane

Air travel is the safest mode of travel, but it turns out that inside the plane, the traveler can take additional steps to maximize their safety. Referencing TIME and the Sun, @tanveer741 tells us that the back 1/3 of seats are safer than the front 2/3, and the safest of all are the ones on the aisle in the very back row. @truth2Medical Practitioners Embracing New Technologies for Precision Care

Modern healthcare is being augmented by artificial intelligence, telehealth, and wearable technology. For example, the Tufts University medical team is leveraging the AWS cloud along with AI and machine learning to pursue precision medicine, which is a technique to treat a person holistically - incorporating information about a patient's health indicators, their environment, and other health data. Similarly, surveys have shown that as many as 60% of respondents are willing to use wearable technology and remote medicine in order to improve their health outcomes. About STEM Saturday

If members would like to have your own STEM content considered for future promotions, please come join us and start contributing. I don't know how long I'll be continuing the tradition, but while I do, here are the minimum requirements for consideration (subject to change without notice ;-).

  1. Original, plagiarism-free content
  2. Minimum word count: currently 300 words, but this may be adjusted.
  3. The content must not be cross-posted on other web sites or blockchains. Correct use of the #steemexclusive tag is encouraged.
  4. English language. (sorry, it's the only one I know)
  5. Because a post leaves /promoted at payout time, posts created shortly before STEM Saturday may be more likely to be chosen than older posts.

All community members are invited to create original and exclusive content that can be considered for future promotions.

Please help grow the science & technology audience on the Steem blockchain by following the Science and Technology on the Social Blockchain Facebook page then liking & sharing our links!
