We know that Mars had water and seas, in fact, it has it in a frozen form, in the past it had conditions similar to those of Earth, right at the same time that life emerged on our planet, but we have not yet found remains of past or present life and the few clues discovered end in controversies or dead ends, but now NASA scientists say they have found signs that may be the proof we are looking for about the existence of life on Mars, at least in its past.

At the moment they have found signals, biomarkers of possible life activity, the problem is that we would have to analyze it in more detail, it is not the first time that a NASA rover has found organic molecules or intriguing rocks on Mars, for example, on the 7th. In June 2018, NASA published a statement titled “NASA discovers ancient organic material and mysterious methane on Mars.” I clarify, the correct thing would be to say organic substances.

To specify organic substances, they are those that have combinations with carbon, they are essential for life to arise and life also produces organic substances, but those organic substances are not necessarily produced exclusively by life, so if they find organic substances they do not It means that they are a product of life activity, they can be a natural product or a geological product, but within these substances there are special ones called biomarkers and that is why they are the important ones, because they are the indicators of the possible activity of life. Life, Organic Life.

That discovery in 2018 was made by Robert Curiosity, and what he found apart from these organic substances was methane, which has been one of the reasons for debate and mysteries. In fact, there is one that we may solve about methane and another that I think we will never solve, and it will seem very curious and strange, the first of the mysteries about methane is where the methane comes from, since methane turns out that it can be originated by geological activity or by the activity of forms of life.

On Earth, the largest amount of methane that exists on our planet is a product of the activity of life, for example, humans produce methane if we eat fabada or bread with ham, we produce much more, but the methane detected on Mars had a strange behavior, It varied with the seasons and this should not be done and this stationary variation could be an indication that it was produced by life forms, living beings that in the good season would increase their number and produce more methane and when a bad season arrived for them. They would reduce their number or enter a process of lethargy during that bad season, causing methane levels to vary with their activity, producing less methane.

The origin of the methane is still not clear, but what was discovered is where it comes from, the methane detected by the Rover curiosity was only detected by the Rover curiosity and was only found in the Gale Crater, which is where said Rover was, the Scientists came to the conclusion that the Rover, with its weight, broke the salt crust of the soil and caused the methane trapped in that crust to come to the surface and in this way it was detected by the rover's methane detector.

The other mystery that seems inexplicable to me and that I hope will help me understand, all of this was discovered in 2018 out of curiosity, it is a cause of global controversy, there is scientific debate, two years later NASA sends the Robert Perseverance to explore another region From Mars, Perseverance is even bigger than Curiosity, it weighs about 1025 kg on Earth, but curiously they did not install a methane detector, which is something that weighs very little, a few kilos. They did not install a methane detector like the curiosity.

So we are left without methane data in another area of ​​the planet to be able to contrast and reach a clearer conclusion.
