Gravitational Lens Telescope

A telescope a thousand times more powerful

Space telescopes like Hubble, James Webb being capable of capturing these planets like the Earth and even capturing their atmospheres, this telescope is expected to work for 5 to 10 years unfortunately, hopefully it will work much longer. but and after james webb.

The capacity of the james webb can be improved, yes, and also by far and in a surprising way, there is a NASA project called the interstellar telescope for which there is not much data.

It was presented a few days ago, it is from Stanford University, it has described its telescope as a gravity or gravitational lens telescope because it could obtain images of those planets the size of the earth located more than 100 light years away and what is more amazing , the images would have a quality similar to being able to observe the earth from the moon, it would be a telescope a thousand times more powerful than the best technology to capture images that currently exists.

Not only could it capture the atmospheres of an Earth-like world 100 light-years away, there could also be features on its surface, such as whether it has oceans or continents.

They have published charts of how it would work, they did tests with images from a satellite located far away from the earth and with the technology for image resolution to see what the earth and an earth-like planet distant a hundred light years from us would look like, Using gravitational distortion produced by the sun, it could be seen with this telescope, with a quality similar to the one you see in the image.

What this future telescope would do would be to take advantage of a phenomenon described by albert einstein, that of gravitational lensing or gravitational lensing that forms when light from distant and bright objects such as quasars bends around a massive object, such as a galaxy, but the effect also works with a massive object like the sun, in fact in 1919 the accuracy of the phenomenon could be tested, during a solar eclipse, it was observed how the light of elegant stars bends when passing close to the sun, producing an apparent displacement of the positions of those stars.

Gravitational lensing phenomena can be used to detect the presence of massive, invisible objects like black holes, dark matter or even extrasolar planets.
