The tails of Comets are actually two, they have two tails, the one of ions and the most visible one, which is the one of dust and fragments that it releases because it always points in the opposite direction to the sun, since they are pushed by the solar wind, but the anti tail pointed towards the sun, the anti tail is formed by larger dust particles and larger fragments that are less affected by the pressure of solar radiation and tend to remain approximately in the orbital plane of the Comet and eventually form a disk along the comet's orbit, due to the speed of ejection of particles from the comet's surface.

Remember that comets are basically blocks of ice with some dust and some rocks and when they approach the sun they vaporize, in reality we are seeing an object that is disintegrating, luckily not completely, because otherwise the poor thing would be destroyed, it would break up. It is disintegrating due to the action of the Sun and in its wake it leaves small fragments, specks of dust, etc.

It is curious that all this that the comets leave behind, in the end when the Earth crosses that trail of particles left by the comets, is when the meteor showers are formed.

Personally, I have not been able to see the comet, I am in the southern hemisphere and here it is more difficult, also here it is tremendous because even on the nights that we have had clear it has been further to the horizon, on other days to try to see the Comet I always have clouds on the horizon area and it is very complicated, it has been impossible. it has been impossible.

The bigger the comet, the brighter it is, and the brighter the anti-tail will also be. In this case it depends, the first photo was taken on the palm of your hand, and at a high altitude there they have very very clear skies, so you have to look for a dark place. With very clean skies without pollution and without clouds, it is ideal to see any astronomical event, including this type of Comets.
