Hi, steemians,
It is a pleasure to put in my contribution to this wonderful contest organised by @genomil in this noble community. Truly the power down has been a thing of concern recently as many users and communities are leaving the platform for obvious reasons.

Here in my country Nigeria, the power down has become to talk of the day because one of the oldest communities which trained a lot of us also has initiated a power down. To summarise, we have 4 communities running in Nigeria and two of these communities namely @steemalive and @campusconnect have joined the power down.

This power down brought a lot of chaos because those posting in those communities became very stranded. It's always advisable as a steemian not to focus only on one community when posting on steemit because of such unforeseen circumstances.

Now let's go straight into the main discussion of the day. In my opinion with regards to the SP of communities is that it should be made more centralized so that one individual doesn't power down everything and go with the money.

I have written an article recently where I seek people's opinions with regards to communities being controlled by the steemit team instead of just individuals. From the general review, people think that it is fairer to handle the keys individually to have more freedom but I suggested differently because of all these ugly incidents.

Truly we have joined in building most of these communities and just within a blink of an eye the entire asset will be powered down because the person claims he or she built the community. The most annoying part is that even the MODs don't get anything for their work let alone a member of the community.

If the system can be made more centralized such that communities can be controlled by the team, it will go a long way because we won't be facing this power-down issue. There is no way the entire asset of the community will be evenly shared among those who have contributed to the growth of the community hence the SP should be there for support only and not power down.

One individual takes the entire sweat of all those who have contributed to the growth of the community. So my only suggestion on this matter is that the steemit should bring out criteria for creating a community which every other community must abide with. And community accounts should not be powered down for any reason instead they should always be used to support steemians.

In summary, I have said what happens to the SP that is been powered down by communities I.e an individual takes all of it without giving anything to all who contributed to achieving it even the MODs and I have also suggested that for this to stop creating communities should be made more centralized such that the steemit team will be in the picture.

A community account shouldn't be powered down for any reason. If those who created are leaving, the community should remain and be supporting those who have contributed to its growth. I want to invite a few of my friends @josepha, @yakspeace and @dave-hanny to give their opinion with regards to this topic as well.

Thanks @ngoenyi for the support

You have made a very good suggestions on this very topic. The communities should not be powering down instead the sp should be used in other to support the community members.

As you said the community should have team members to handle the account, by doing so, i think the account will not be restricted to only one user. And everything will work smoothly according to the plans of each communities.

Thank you for the invite and i wish you all the best in this contest.

Obviously, you have made a good point about the issue of communities powering down without giving a dime to those that work for the community, which is so bad. In my own opinion, I am suggesting that whenever a community wants to power down, they should also consider rewarding those that have worked for the community who are still active.

I noticed that a lot of MODs are working so hard for their respective communities to grow, but at the end of the day, the Admin/Owners of the community will powerdown and go away with everything, forgetting those that stand and support the community to grow. I love everything that you have written.

I will try and give my own opinion concerning the topic later. Thanks for inviting me.
