My country's name is Bangladesh. We speak Bengali language. The biggest culture of our country is Bengali New Year. Our country has an English calendar as well as a Bengali calendar. Our country Bengali has twelve months. We celebrate the first day of Baisakh month as Happy New Year. The entire Bengali nation observes this day. I have been celebrating Bengali New Year since my childhood. I enjoyed this day a lot in my childhood.

We celebrate the Bengali New Year on a date in the month of Baisakh. This day is a public holiday in our country. In our country, various rituals are performed on this day. I am mentioning the names of some important events below.

Eating hilsa fish with panta rice:
The national fish of our country is hilsa. It is a tradition in our country to eat hilsa fish with panta rice on Payala Baisakh. On this day, people all over the country eat panta rice with hilsa fish.

Fairs are held in different parts of the country:
Fairs are held in different parts of the country with local traditions. I used to go to the fair every year as a child. My hobby was buying kites from fairs. All of us friends used to buy kites of different colors from fairs and fly them. Then, I used to buy different types of wooden toys.

Bengali New Year Dress Wear:
In our country boys wear Punjabi and girls wear sarees on Paila Baisakh. Young boys and girls celebrate Bengali New Year with banners on their heads. I buy clothes for my son and daughter decorated with Bengali New Year banners and Bengali letters. Various processions are taken out on this day of Bengali New Year. Happiness prevails in every house in Bengal.

A new accounting book (Halkhata) is opened in the shop:
On this day of the Bengali New Year, the shopkeeper completes the accounts of the old year and opens a new account. The shop owner lures the customers by feeding them different kinds of sweets for the due money. This day brings joy to the people of our country.

Payala Baisakh unites all the people of our country. They forget their differences by organizing various events. Wishing each other well for the new year. I really enjoy Paola Boishakh very much.
