In my country, Tunisia, a cultural tradition that we celebrate with pride is National Traditional Costume Day, marked every year on March 16. This day has special meaning for us as it highlights the importance of traditional costume as an essential part of our intangible cultural heritage.

On this special day, many Tunisian children, including mine, enthusiastically don traditional clothes such as the "jubba", the "dress", the "vest and pants", the "Bornous Bey" and the “Balgha”. Some also wear accessories made from traditional materials, such as the "Qaffa" made from fronds and the "shashiya". This creates a vibrant and colorful atmosphere, where the streets, public and private schools, as well as government and private institutions, fill with the visual richness of our traditional costume.

For my part, every year, my children actively participate in this tradition by wearing these emblematic costumes. It's a way for them to connect with their roots, celebrate our country's cultural heritage and get involved in a community event that strengthens our national identity.

The organization of this celebration is often coordinated by the Heritage Revival and Cultural Development Agency. Their continued commitment to celebrating this day highlights the importance given to traditional costume as a pillar of Tunisian cultural heritage. This tradition is not only a local celebration, but it also has national implications.

In terms of promoting citizenship values, National Traditional Costume Day offers a unique opportunity to strengthen the sense of belonging and national pride. It encourages the participation of various sectors of society, from schools to government institutions, thereby strengthening the social and cultural fabric of our country.

When it comes to tourism, this tradition also helps draw international attention to the richness of our cultural heritage.
